Principal's Message
We are now in the full swing of things here at CFT! This week we had our first fire drill! Fire drills and other emergency drills can be scary, especially for our younger students, but they are an important part of ensuring that every student under our care is safe and ready in the event of an actual emergency. We practice fire drills each month with a goal of evacuating the building in under 4 minutes. On our first try, we were very nearly there, with a time of 4 minutes and 9 seconds!
We also had our first assembly! It was a thrill to see the whole school together in one space, and we had a wonderful time. During the assembly, 5th graders led us in a school chant, we previewed the Golden Awards for positive behaviors (see below), sang the school song and cheered on some of our teachers in a Minute-To-Win-It style challenge. We will hold Golden Award Celebration Assemblies each month throughout the year.
Golden Awards:
Golden Bus - Achievement in Bus Safety and Behavior
Golden Tray - Achievement in Lunch Safety and Behavior
Golden Shoe - Achievement in Hallway Safety and Behavior
Golden Racket - Achievement in Specials Safety and Behavior
Golden Cone - Achievement in Recess Safety and Behavior
Kindness Award - Achievement in Kindness and Problem-Solving

WALKING SCHOOL BUS
On Wednesdays We Walk! Starting Wednesday, October 5th.
Announcing the Launch of the CFT Walking School Bus!
What: A volunteer-led community "Walking School Bus" to encourage close-by families to walk all or part of the way to CFT!
Where: Families will start in front of the Fowler Middle School Main Entrance and walk on the sidewalk down Walnut Street to CFT. Families and students are welcome to join the "bus" anywhere along the route! (Please only cross at protected intersections to join the bus).
When: Meet at 7:30 on Wednesdays, beginning on October 5th (Walk+Roll to School Day).
Volunteers needed! For a safe and sustainable walking school bus, we need one adult for each 6 students who walk.
