One Parent Rep needed for Site Council (2-year term/meets monthly)

This shared decision-making committee has been established to provide input to the design of curricular and instructional strategy/enrichment models that promote the district mission/goal statements of the SUSD Strategic Plan and goals of Anasazi.


Are you interested in serving on the Anasazi Site Council? If so, please send Ms. Waldron an email and in a few sentences, please detail why your involvement in Site Council is important to you.

Attendance & Truancy Reminders

Please make sure to read up on Attendance policies (pp.46 & 47) in SUSD's Code of Conduct. This year attendance letters will be sent from SUSD.


Excessive Absences - Per A.R.S. §15-803(B), absences may be considered excessive when the number of absent days (excused and unexcused absences combined) exceeds ten percent (18 days) of the number of required attendance days prescribed in A.R.S. §15-802(B)(1). Students absent for ten consecutive school days (or in the case of Scottsdale Online Learning- 10 consecutive days with failure to login and complete work), except for excused absences identified herein, shall be withdrawn from the school effective the last day of attendance or reported excused absence, pursuant to A.R.S. 15-901(A). The governing board may take disciplinary action that may lead to expulsion pursuant to A.R.S. 15-342. Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-805(B)(1) at attendance officer may issue a citation to the guardian or the child that is in violation of A.R.S. 15-803.

HOUSE BILL 2707 MOMENT OF SILENCE

Arizona has a new House Bill 2707 that requires all K-12 public schools to implement a moment of silence each day. Please see the following information. We appreciate your help in speaking to your children about this, as is required by law.


This law requires we have at least one minute of silent reflection that is uninterrupted for students.


The law strictly prohibits teachers and staff from suggesting the content of the reflection as well as any interference into any individual’s moment of silence. We are required to encourage parents to discuss with your children how to use the moment of silence.


This minute will be done via our announcements and will take place at the start of each day, prior to instruction.


We appreciate your talking with your children and sharing with them your thoughts on how their moment of silence be utilized for your individual student.

Staff Treat Parent Sign-Up

Hi Anasazi Families, We want to show our Anasazi staff how much we love them by providing fun treats on Fridays throughout the school year. Sign up to bring a platter, plate, bowl, or box of yummy treats. Store bought or homemade. There is a Keurig machine so K-cups work too! There are approximately 50 staff members. Please drop off to the front office by 10am. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our Anasazi staff!!

Reminders from the Front Office

  • Please write your child’s name on water bottles and lunch boxes
  • Please make sure your child has their laptops, lunches, water bottles, instruments. We try our best to not interrupt the learning environment once the school day has begun
  • Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home before dropping off in the morning
  • Please be on time each day for school

A Note from Nurse Renee

Our COVID guidance has shifted to a main focus of not attending school with illness symptoms. The focus on COVID-like illness and at home testing can have us forgetting that there are other illnesses like strep, influenza, etc. that students should not be back to school with. This leads us to working with medical providers to find the answers and guarantee safe return to school.


If your child has any of the COVID-like illness symptoms, please be sure that they are not contagious to others before returning. Symptoms include any one of the following: fever, chills body/muscle aches, GI complaints, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, headache, breathing difficulties, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, runny nose or congestion even if it seems like allergies.


**The expectation to test at home before returning is still the same, but you do not need to send a copy of the negative result to Nurse Renee.

Return to school after illness guidance to limit exposure to others:


  • Fever: Please keep your child home from school with a fever 100* or greater. Students may return to school with a temperature less than 100* without the use of fever-reducing medication--only if the child is fever-free for 24 hours.


  • Rash: All rashes should be identified by your medical provider. A note from the physician should be sent to the nurse identifying the rash as not contagious.


  • Vomiting: Students should not return to school for 24 hours after last episode of vomiting. Episodes of vomiting without fever can be due to virus and may still be contagious to classmates.


  • Pink Eye/Conjunctivitis: Students may not return to school while the eye is still red and draining. If no drainage, students can return 24 hours after the initiation of treatment.


  • Symptoms of any illness should be mostly resolved for return to school.


  • Diagnosis of illness by medical professionals to determine a safe return to school.

  • Communicate positive COVID tests and provide the test result to Nurse Renee. You will be given guidance on return to school dates.

Welcome to our 22-23 school year. I am your Community Specialist Ms. Luz, and I am here to assist you and your families. I am in charge of special programs like:


  • Food boxes (October, December, March)
  • Thanksgiving (Monday before)
  • Christmas "Adopt a Family"
  • Back to School Program (July)



All of theses programs are sponsored by generous entities that work hand in hand with our District: parents, PTOs, students, churches, community centers, the City of Scottsdale, and teachers.


It does not matter if you are in the receiving end or are a donor, we are "all inclusive" and completely confidential.

IB Corner

Welcome to our 2022-23 school year! We are excited to have many new families join our learning community.


Anasazi Elementary School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school. This means that we are working towards our full verification. After three years of hard work, IB World Organization will be visiting us in November for our official verification visit. If all goes well, we will become an authorized IB World school.


This year students will continue to be fully immersed in the PYP class experience and will be completing several inquiry based units of study. During Curriculum Night, you are invited to attend an IB PYP information session, which will outline this program in more detail. We hope to see you there!

A Note from our IB PYP Coordinator


Sara Armstrong began working at Anasazi Elementary School in the fall of 2020. She is an experienced IB educator and accreditation coordinator. Ms. Armstrong is originally from Michigan but lived in Sweden for 14 years with her Swedish husband and daughter. During that time, she worked at an IB accredited international school where she taught in the PYP and with MYP learning support. She also served as the school’s Council of International Schools accreditation coordinator.
