College Planning Parent Night

Tuesday, Aug. 29th, 6:30pm

12760 Troxler Avenue

Highland, IL

Please join us for our first parent night of the year. The counselors will be presenting a brief overview of the college application process. The night will also include a panel of admissions representatives to offer advice and answer questions. All parents and students are welcome to attend. We strongly encourage the parents of Juniors and Seniors.

Have a question you would like addressed that night? Please ask it here:

Want to take a college/career day?

Students are allowed to take a total of two college/career days during their junior and senior years. These must be scheduled at least one-week in advance. See your school counselor for forms and information.

ACT Profile is a great tool for college and career exploration. Students who create an account can complete interest inventories, search majors, colleges and compare schools. Students who create accounts can also connect with their HHS Counselors.

It's never to early to start researching college and career possibilities.

ASVAB Testing

We are planning to give the ASVAB in the HHS Kennel sometime in September. It is a free military aptitude test. Information regarding the test date will be available as soon as we have it scheduled with our recruiters. Please sign up in the School Counselor's office by Sept. 8th or online here:

Tutor List in the works

School counselors are collecting information from students who are interested in tutoring to compile our list. If your student is interested please have them come see a school counselor to sign up.

Typically tutors are paid by the hour- contact is made from the student or parent. Payment and logistics should be discussed at that time.

Club day coming soon

Clubs and teams will have information tables set up on Tuesday Sept. 5th during all lunch periods. Students can sign up and learn more about each club during their lunch period that day.

PSAT/NMSQT sign up available

Juniors interested in taking the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test may sign up in the office with Mrs. McGlasson, the counseling secretary. Cost is $20 per student. The test will be given on October 11th at HHS.
