True Love Conquers All
Beastly
Looks arn't everything
In the book, Beastly by Alex Flinn, Kyle Kingsbury learns that appearances dont always show who you really are on the inside.
"Just because something is beautiful doesn't mean it's good." Will says this to Kyle. The quote means that even though someone may look beautiful, that doesn't mean that they are a good person on the inside. This quote relates to the theme because the quote is supporting the statement that how you look doesn't affect your personality. It really emphasizes the true meaning of inner beauty. Linda is not as rich as Kyle but she is a sweet, kind, and very diligent. She helps Kyle overcome looks and start to focus on more important things like personality,
“A beautiful thing is precious, no matter the price. Those who do not know how to see the precious things in life will never be happy.” Magda, Kyle’s maid, says this quote. It means that no amount of money can hide who you really are, you need to be able to overlook appearances and then you will learn to be happy. This quote also supports the theme. It reinforces the idea that beauty is found within. For example, when Kyle gave a rose to Linda because the rose was cheap, she was so grateful because of the beauty. Not the price.
Drugs
"Magic. It was magic, and the magic is called love.” I think that the drugs represented a big event in the book because drugs is what caused Linda's father to be trespassing in Kyle's garden. This is why Linda ended up with Kyle. This is one of the biggest events in the book. This is where Kyle starts to change. The quote realtes because it was magic that brought Kyle and Linda together. And they believe that magic is also called love.
White Rose
“Maybe we judge people too much by their looks because it's easier than seeing what's really important.” -Kyle This represents the white rose that Kyle gave to Linda. This is important because this rose is what made Kendra give Kyle time to change as a person. The small kind gesture. The quote relates because it is talking abou how it would be so much easier to judge people by looks, but its more worth it to see what's important, who they really are.
Caterpillar
"That must have been quite an experience for you.” The caterpillar sybolizes how Kyle has "evolved" from a judgemental caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly with the help from Linda. He was able to learn what truely matters, and while he was doing so, he was in a coccoon. When he transformed back to Kyle, he was finally a butterfly who understands the meaning of inner beauty. The quote represents the journey that Kyle went through in order to accomplish what he has. He went through an amazing experience that changed his life forever.
It's What's on the Inside That Counts
Inner beauty is covered by appearances, look deep enough and you'll find bursting personality.
