Coyote Copy Service is up and running
1) Please give 24 hours notice; generally they are rather quick but as a rule of thumb.
2) We DO NOT accept email requests for copies.
3) A coyote copy Service Slip must be filled out and the original attached with a paperclip ( stapled papers jam the machine).
4) Please have the originals just as you would like it copied.
4) You can use a student to drop off a request with the slip and original but there should be no expectation of immediate copying making. Requests are copied in the order received.
5) All copies are basic front and back, nothing fancy.
The Coyote Success Test Center is open beginning Monday!
Teachers can make appointments to send students with IEP’s that require testing accommodations that are not able to be served easily within the classroom setting. It is open all periods of the day with the exception of time for the teacher’s lunch and planning. Please coordinate with the special teacher in advance to schedule your students for accommodations.
Accommodation logs have been combined for all support plans in 19-20!
Please use this spreadsheet to document all accommodations used for students with IEP/504/ELL/PMP status. This is a professional responsibility and must be presented upon request at any time.
Instructions:
- Download a copy of the spreadsheet to your desktop
- Upload your class roster of students with plans into spreadsheet
- Indicate type of plan
- Highlight known accommodations for each student (optional)
- Add dates separated by a comma, or indicate accommodation and date if falling under “other” column
- Upload completed spreadsheet to your ESE 19-20 accommodations folder the last day of every month starting with Monday, September 30th
- Hawk/Usry available in Media Center from 2:00-2:30 Monday, September 30th for assistance uploading. If you need any other help using the spreadsheet please email us as soon as possible.
SPIRIT STORE IS OPEN - LAST CHANCE FOR THESE ITEMS!
Have Concerns About a Student? Does a Child Need Tier 3 Support?
Do you have a student who is in need of additional Support?
The CCMHS Student Services Team is a multidisciplinary team including; discipline staff, behavior specialist, school counselors, administrators, ESE staff, school psychologist, school social worker, school nurse, SRO, and SSAP coach that meets every Thursday to review students in need of additional supports. Any staff member may refer a student to the Student Services Team via the mach form link below.
The following include rationale for additional support:
- attendance problems
- academic issues after attempts to resolve
- significant changes in attitude, behavior, or academics
- economic hardships
- withdrawn or isolated
- patterns of behavior inconsistent with school mission and motto
- failure to respond to interventions or consequences even after contact home
Feedback forms for each student reviewed will be shared with staff directly related to the student after review.

Student Mini Sessions- Please check the schedule, a few things have changed!
During the first 3 weeks of school the administrative team, SRO’s, and school counselors will be conducting mini-sessions for our middle school students. These mini-sessions will focus on our H.O.W.L. mission. Attention High School Teachers! We have updated our student mini-session schedule for August 26th and August 27th in order to condense some sessions. Please look at the schedule to see the changes. Also note that the changes on the 26th & 27th move some teachers to the Cafeteria for their sessions. Thank you for your cooperation with these changes!

Making Phone Calls Home - Some Helpful Tips & Information
Excerpt from Edutopia Article by Rebecca Alber
"As I made more calls throughout the year, I got better at putting parents at ease. Often they were a little nervous at the start of the conversation, and I found I got better results by focusing on collaboration rather than confrontation. How you open is important, so consider these steps for calling a student’s home when you need to discuss a problem or concern."
1. Introduce yourself by your first name. Sometimes we teachers address each other as Mr., Ms., or Mrs., but I suggest we approach parents or guardians as peers. When we use our first name, it lightens any tension—and there is often tension on that first call—and works to establish right away that we are collaborating in supporting their child.
2. Begin the conversation with a positive. This looks something like, “I’m Jessica’s English teacher, and I’d like to start by saying I really appreciate her sense of humor. She gets us all laughing, and she is a reason period three is one of my favorite classes.” By doing this, you convey to the parent or guardian that you see all aspects of who the child is, not just his or her challenges.
3. Describe only actions—avoid labeling. After setting a positive tone, move on to the issue. Avoid saying things like, “Jonathan is disrespectful," and instead try, “Jonathan often talks when I am talking or when classmates are sharing out, and when I ask him to please just listen, he often continues talking.” Stay away from words like defiant, rude, hyperactive, etc. Describing a child’s actions is simply providing data; this establishes you not as judge but rather as an observer. Then share the consequences or steps you’ve already taken following the child’s actions.
4. Ask questions seeking support. Once you’ve described the child’s actions and the consequences, what happens next is crucial—asking parents or guardians for their support and advice. This creates the “we” connection you want and need with parents. For example, “What are some ideas you might have to help me support Jonathan and get him back on track?” or “What might be a suggestion for talking with him? What works best with him?”
CALLING WITH GOOD NEWS
Phone calls home need not be reserved for problems. Strongly consider calling the homes of students who have improved their efforts or class grade, been helpful to their classmates or to you, or contributed routinely to class discussions, for example. Students talk to each other about their teachers (like it or not), and a positive phone call home will not only give you props with kids but contribute to building trust, rapport, and community. And these calls are great morale boosters for you after you make the difficult calls.
Join the CCMHS Team for the Memorial Mile
The Wesley Chapel Rotary is hosting the 9/11 Memorial Mile 1 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, September 7 at 7:30 am at the Tampa Premium Outlets. The cost to register is $10. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel Scholarship Fund. Last year, two of our graduates, Paige Mulford and Jenny Stinfil, received Rotary Scholarships.
The Memorial Mile is also special because a 9/11 Memorial will be unveiled for the first time during the event. It will be the only 9/11 Memorial in Pasco County. If you would like to support the WC Rotary through this event, register at www.wcrotary.com/911-memorial-mile/
Then email Jen Larimore at jlarimor@pasco.k12.fl.us if you would like to join a CCMHS “Team” to show our appreciation for all that the Wesley Chapel Rotary does to support our school and students. Family and friends are also welcome!

Cortney Pleus- Fine Arts
I went to school at USF and majored in Fine Arts with a specialization in Photography. I am very close with my family including my furbaby Sookie! My faith is a really important part of my life. I am an eccentric kind of person, loving a broad range of things from creepy skeletons to anything Disney. Game nights and karaoke are essentials!
Candra Lyons- MS Math
My name is Candra and I use Ms. Lyons in the classroom. I am a new to the state of Florida. After four years of living in the Empty Quarter Desert. We are so excited to see the beautiful cumulus clouds. We were pleasantly surprised with the lightning shows at night and of course we are loving the rain. I have been teaching for fourteen years and have experience in middle school, high school, and college. I love yarn crafts, traveling, snorkeling, college basketball, and taking hikes. I got most of my education in Pennsylvania. I graduated from Harrisburg Public Schools and then later got my under graduate degree at Wilson College. Currently I am working on completing my terminal degree at Grand Canyon University. I have three children one is in college and the other two are new members of the Coyotes also. They are in grade eight and eleven. My sister and her husband are in the U.S. Air-Force and stationed at MacDill. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
