Graduation F.A.Q
.
A: Yes, we follow the same format as the typical high school graduation in our partner districts.
Q: Can I attend graduation with my home/option school?
A: Yes, ECHS students earn their diploma from their cross-enrolled high school. This is either your neighborhood high school or a BSD option school. However, high schools graduate before our Spring term is complete, so students must complete their credit requirements by the end of Winter Term to participate in a home-school graduation.
Q: Can I attend both home school and ECHS graduation?
A: Yes, as long as you meet the eligibility requirements for both. Winter term completion of credits for Home School, Spring Term completion of credits for ECHS
Q: How does the home-school know we want to attend their graduation?
We will send a graduation ceremony survey to students towards the end of Winter Term and they can RSVP for home and ECHS graduation at that time. We will send share this information and with home schools after Winter Term grades are posted.
Anyone interested in attending a home school graduation should 1)Check that school’s website to determine the important dates, timelines, cap and gown ordering, and senior meeting information.
Q: ECHS Graduation: Senior Speeches?
A: ECHS chooses one to two seniors to give addresses during graduation. The speeches are 2 to 3 minutes in length and we have a process in the Spring for student to submit a draft of their remarks and a selection process.
Q: ECHS Graduation: Senior Song?
A: An ECHS tradition is that seniors do not process and recess to ‘Pomp and Circumstance,’ rather the class votes on a song. We will have a process for students to submit suggestions and a nomination process for the processional and recessional song in the Spring
Q: ECHS Graduation: Senior Recognition?
A: We would like to recognize senior accomplishments in our program. We recognize scholarships, awards, or admission to a college, program, or the armed forces at graduation. We will send a survey in the Spring to gather this information so that these accomplishments can be recognized.
Q: Will the event filmed or streamed online?
A: Yes, the Beaverton School District I.T. department will be filming and streaming ECHS graduation. Those friends and family not able to attend the event will be able to view the event through a reliable internet connection.
Q: Will tickets be required? How many guests can we bring. ?
A: We will be using tickets for graduation and will be distributing tickets once students finalize their graduation RSVP’s, towards the end of Winter Term. Tickets are free and each student will receive 6 tickets for graduation. The tickets are required for guests, not graduates.
A: Yes, families can request additional graduation tickets (beyond the initial 6). We will be surveying students their graduation plans during Winter term. At that time we will make an announcement to all senior families with the date and time our ticket request form is available. As additional tickets open we will use the request list to grant additional tickets on a first come first served basis.
Q: I have an infant/small child under the age of 2 that will be sitting on my lap. Does this count as one of my 6 guests?
A: Please remember that seating will be in bleachers. That being said, a child on your lap would not count towards the 6.
Q: I have a guest that requires ADA accommodations. Will there be special seating?
A: We will have designated seating for guests that require ADA seating and accessibility accommodations.
