Connor Prairie
This weekend your student should have brought home a sign-up for our Connor Prairie visit coming up soon! We will be going on Friday, October 9th.
Please return field trip slip and money by October 5th.
Interested in chaperoning? Check the box on the form but send in no money at this time. I'll put names of all interested parties in a hat and draw. Then I will send out notifications. If you'd like to chaperon please make sure you have a background check and bully form on file
Rock Books
Students were asked to turn in their Rock Books on Friday. The books that were turned in are graded and should be coming home in their Monday folder. For the most part, I was very impressed with the depth of learning students displayed in these books! Our kindergarten book buddies loved them, too!
Learning is a life-long process, so if your student isn't happy with the grade and they want to add or revise their book I am happy to look at their revised work and adjust their grade accordingly. Because we've moved onto Social Studies there won't be any more time to work on Rock Books in the classroom and they will need to work at home. I have books and materials they can bring home if needed.

Moby Max
This is a reminder that Moby Max is up and running. This is a school-wide resource that has a full range subjects across the curriculum. When we go 1-to-1 next year in elementary this could become a powerful tool to assist in tracking student learning. Students also tell me it's fun. We will spend some time in class learning how to use this website. Working from home can also supplement your child's learning.
VolunteerSpot is set up
We're using VolunteerSpot (the leading online Sign-up and reminder tool) to organize our volunteers.
Weekly opportunities: Right now I have put up a reading spot that will take place Monday-Thursday each week (I planned out for the next weeks, which will get us to Fally Break) I hope to add math spots soon.
Other volunteer opportunities: I would always love to have parents come in to be a mystery reader or talk about your area of expertise (career, hobby, etc.). If you are interested in serving our classroom this way, please email me and we will set up a time!
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1) Click this link below to see our Sign-Up on VolunteerSpot
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on VolunteerSpot.
Homework
Students should continue to read for 30 minutes each night.
Play math games to increase student's fact fluency and flexibility with numbers.
Some students may be finishing up their Rock Books. These were due on Friday, September 18th. They will not be given anymore class time to complete these books. They are allowed bring books and textbooks from school to help with their research if needed.

Snacks and Lunch
Snack: Students will be allowed to bring a snack in the morning since our lunch time is later in the day. Snacks need to be healthy and nutritious. Please refrain from bringing items with tree nuts due to allergies. Students can also bring a bottle of water to school each day. Please remind students not to bring flavored water, there have been spills in the classroom. Not only are these messy to clean up, they attract unwanted critters.
Lunch: We will eat lunch each day from 1:05-1:35 in the cafeteria. Your child may eat school lunch or bring his or her lunch from home. Lunch options this year are hot lunch, turkey sandwich, peanut butter & jelly, chef salad, or pizza pack.
