The Naked Truth

Danielle Staub with Steven Prigge

"You've seen her on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, turning heads, raising eyebrows, and igniting feuds with her feisty suburban neighbors. Now, the always fascinating Danielle Staub gets real about her scandalous past in the year's most explosive tell-all memoir."

"There are no two sides to one's life story. If you didn't live it, it's not yours to speak of."

Author's Purpose

To Persuade: Danielle Staub's purpose in writing her book was to persuade her fans and readers that there is only one story of her life and that one story is hers, no one else's. The people that have ever seen The Real Housewives of New Jersey knows that Danielle was accused of some pretty crazy things, and no one really knew the truth behind all of the rumors. Since this book was written, Danielle's story is out for the general public to read and interpret her story how they want to.

Three Principles

  • Mirrors Do Not Define You
  • Find Yourself First
  • Go Through The Darkness To Get To The Light

Greatest Impression

"Life is a gift, love is a blessing, trust is earned."

When times get tough in Danielle's life, she turns to the quote above to get her through the day. This particular quote stood out to me the most because I agree with Danielle and believe that everyone should live by that quote. You were given life as a gift, if you are lucky you will be blessed to fall in love, and if someone wants your trust they must earn it not expect it. Along with the quote, Danielle shared some advice on how to look past your hardships from the past and how to gain strength to move on. Some of the advice she shared is advice that I will take with me and really use because I also have had some hardships in the past.

Book Rating

I would rate this book a 4 with a four being not great but still pretty good! The only reason I wouldn't rate this book a 5 is because I thought the book was going to be more about Danielle's life during The Real Housewives of New Jersey and not as much about her childhood/adulthood. I was looking forward to learning more about what happened behind the cameras during the show rather than learning about her entire life.

This book would interest anyone who has seen The Real Housewives of New Jersey or has ever heard of Danielle Staub and her scandalous life. This book is more marketed towards young to middle aged women who have interest in the lives of celebrities.

This passages shows how sexual abuse or any kind of abuse can really scar someone not only at the time of the abuse, but in the future as well. Danielle will never be able to have that special moment of "the first time" with anyone because of the sexual abuse she was put through. She was very tough for putting up with it for nine years with out telling anyone, but she was even more tough for not completely breaking down at the thought of her past sexual abuse. Danielle will never be able to discover that special moment, that most girls can't wait for, with anyone because it has been robbed from her at a very young age.

Along with Danielle, I feel that music should be used to get through the hardships in life. The Climb by Miley Cyrus is actually a very inspirational song and when many listen to the lyrics they can also relate to it. Danielle basically explains this song in her own words and really connects them with her life.

It was known to be true that Danielle Staub had been through a rough childhood/early adulthood, but many people probably didn't know it was as bad as it was. I definitely did not expect to read that Danielle went to jail or that she was in an abusive relationship with her ex-husband or that she was sexually abused for nine years. Although some sketchy things did happen in Danielle's life, I never expected them to be that bad.
