A Note from Mrs. Martin
Dear 3rd-5th Grade Anasazi Families,
As testing quickly approaches, we would like to make you aware of some details in regards to your child and Arizona state testing. Students attending grades 3rd – 5th in the state of Arizona are required to participate in state testing to measure learning growth. This year 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take the AASA state test. This test has one Writing section, two English Language Arts and two Math sections. 5th Grade students will take the Arizona Science test. This year our 3rd Graders will take an oral reading fluency test as well.
Here at Anasazi, our teachers have worked hard all year to provide our students with quality instruction based on our Arizona State Standards. We continue to develop our students to become lifelong learners and strive to foster a rigorous, compassionate and inquiry based environment to support their success. Some ways that you can help support that learning include:
· Encouraging daily reading and talk about the books
· Asking your student to explain what they are learning in math
· Knowing about the learning successes and/or challenges your child may be having
· Keeping lines of communication open between you and the teacher
Please mark the dates listed below on your calendar. We are always grateful for your help in making attendance a priority, and it is especially important that students attend school on these specific dates. We ask that you please do all you can to schedule appointments on dates that do not conflict with testing dates. If, however, you do have a conflict, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as you know.
Your child’s teacher and I are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding these assessments. As always, thank you for all of your support and for understanding the important role that you play in your child’s education!
Regards,
Mrs. Martin
A Note from Ms. Pat, our librarian
It is with great sadness I am writing this to inform you that I will be retiring due to unforeseeable health issues. I wanted to say thank you for the opportunity and privilege of teaching your children. I have loved spending my days in the library with them at Anasazi, and you all should be incredibly proud of your wonderful children. I will forever cherish my time at this amazing school; however this isn't goodbye. You will see me around school as I hope to volunteer throughout the end of the school year. I wish you and your families all the best and thank you again for everything.
Sincerely,
Ms. Pat
***We can't wait for Ms. Pat to feel better and enjoy retirement to the fullest. - Ms. Waldron
