Communication is Key
Talking to your child about Self-Directed Learning in Summit Learning
As a parent, you play an extremely important role in making this a positive experience for your child. We want to both motivate students to be successful academically, and we also want to help them build the habit of stress management when they face difficult challenges in the self-directed learning process. At any point in this cycle, you can coach your student in the right direction. Throughout this process, we want to inspire a growth mindset by helping them reflect and problem-solve when they are facing difficulties.

Staying Informed
We are excited to improve our communication to families this year by launching Your Student Snapshot, a text messaging program to keep you informed about your child’s academic coursework and progress in the Summit Learning Platform. We believe that parents are critical partners in supporting our students’ academic goals, and we are happy to provide this service to our families. This program will provide you a better and easier way to start a conversation with your child about school; help you to be informed -- more easily -- about your child’s progress and enable you to more effectively help your child make good decisions about their schoolwork and stay on track.
On August 20, 2022, you received a text message introducing our Your Student Snapshot program. After that, you’ll receive, on average, 2 text messages per week per child, and the texts will be personalized to your child’s own academic calendar and performance. We hope this will help you keep more up to date on what your child is working on in school and how they are doing academically. You can opt out of the program at any time by replying STOP, after the first introductory message is sent. Learn more about the Your Student Snapshot program.
To participate in the program, we must have a valid cell phone number for you. If you are unsure if you’ve provided one to us, please reply to this message with your child's first and last name, your first and last name, and your mobile phone number. The messages are available in English and Spanish. If you prefer to have the messages in Spanish, please let us know so that we can set that preference.
