Nelson's Notes
December 11, 2015
Let's help our kids grow by using data to drive instruction and target specific skills!
Favorite Things Game Presented by the Sunshine Committee
In lieu of Secret Santa, we thought we would try something new! It’s called the Favorite Things Game! Please bring 5 of the same favorite item to share with the group. Each gift/collection of gifts should be valued at $5 or less, totaling no more than $25. After the gift exchange you will leave with 5 new favorites!
When you arrive at the party, place your five gifts on the table. Write your name on five slips of paper and throw them in a big bowl. One person will be the Master of Ceremonies and select one slip of paper from the bowl. Once your name is called, you go to the table and select the gift of your choice. This will be repeated until everyone has five gifts.
Please sign up using the link below. This will give us an idea of how many friends are playing!

Free Field Trips - Financial Literacy
Junior Achievement of Dallas would like to help you empower GISD students to own their
economic success at no cost to you. We offer a variety of programs for students K‐12,
inlcuding a capstone experience for middle & high school students.
With the onset of financial literacy as part of the TEKS, and HB 18 for middle school
students emphasizing the instruction of career & work readiness, we are excited to be able
to provide support for teachers in those areas.

Most Valuable Knight
Ms. Roach is new to our Kimberlin team, but definitely aligns with our spirit of PRIDE! Christa is always so friendly. She is so good to praise her students for their extra effort!
When we talk about going above and beyond for kids, I always think of Christa! In the short time I have spent with Ms. Roach I have witnessed her caring, patient, and loving nature. She is very kind to her students while making sure that they are engaged and well behaved. Ms. Roach's passion for teaching is evident in the way that her students respond positively to her. She has gone out of her way to accommodate the ALE students and we are all proud to have her with us at Kimberlin. Her determination to help her kids is inspiring and the reason I feel she should be this weeks MVK.
