Notes from the Office
A Note From Mr. Isaac:
Welcome to December, a vibrant time to be here on campus. Some special notes:
- Future Focus! Red Rocks excels with student leadership, giving kids a chance to see role models for the next step ahead. This week we had a former Red Rocks student come and teach the kids, see picture above! This time it was a senior capstone project on dental hygiene!
- Please tell me your input: I hope to hear from 150 families and so far I've heard from about 20. Your voice helps me know our school priorities from year to year, using this: School Budget Input. Survey closes December 18. Text of the survey is available in Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese
- Our kids are amazing, and tired! I've seen a lot of kids over the years, and our younger kids especially are telling me they are sleepy! Can you help? Check out this article and scroll down to see the recommended hours.
- Our staff use the January professional days to assess our progress on our academic goals and overall progress of the school. We share trends like this in our next SAC, January 9 at 6:30. We are seeing some great progress across the board!
- It's a privilege to work with a dedicated and talented PTA--such as how to finish off that playground project from 2021. Basketball hoops are in process, as well as talks about possible other finishing touches. Stay tuned, and thank you PTA for being amazing.
- Our tours have been full! Wow! The interest in the school is high, and that comes from great kids, great families, and great staff! How many "greats" is that? Ha!
- Looking ahead to 2024, we have some unique opportunities. Stay tuned for more on "Empty Bowls," a community gathering that will feature our artists and student Trash Panda band!
Red Rocks Shares: Our kids love to engage in giving, and we use the word "share" so families can tell, is it a fundraiser for the school? Or, is it for kids to practice the art of giving? PTA Holiday Shop was one way of sharing for kids, it was great! Other ways to share 1. Peer Mentors are sponsoring a coat drive, there is a box in the lobby. 2. The Jeffco Schools Foundation answers the question we often get from kids "Can we help other schools?" Our Sharing Calendar for kids includes fall, winter, and spring. The spring sharing focus is a popular one here at Red Rocks formerly known as "Pennies for Patients." Thanks for supporting "Red Rocks Shares"!
2024-25 School Year Enrollment is OPEN: Please visit www.enrolljeffco.org by January 12th to let us know that you’re coming back for the 2024-25 school year. The earlier we know, the easier it is for the district to provide our school with all the tools and resources we need to provide a thriving experience for our students.
Health Room News/School Nurse: As some of you know, the District RN, Simone Medina, will be out for the second semester as she welcomes her new baby. Congratulations to Mrs. Medina! Christy LeBlanc will be the RN covering for spring semester. Please feel free to reach out to her in the spring should you need any health related services. Email: Christy.LeBlanc@jeffco.k12.co.us and/or contact the office as needed.
