First Grade Newsletter #28
Week of: April 17th - April 22nd
The Past Week's Learning
On Monday, we read the folktale, "Talking Eggs' and then we completed a listening challenge. The students had to shake twelve different plastic eggs. The students then recorded their guesses of what they thought was inside the eggs. The contents of the eggs were then revealed. Students were surprised at how difficult it was to identify the items that were in the eggs.
We were able to do many things outside this week. We had our "pop" party before break, but we were unable to go outside to blow bubbles that I purchased, so we were able to get outside and blow bubbles into the wind on Tuesday. We also made an observation of the retention pond in our science journals. On Wednesday, we took a walk around the retention pond looking for signs of spring. Thursday, we took our first nature walk to the wetlands and did some bird watching. We were able to hear and/or see sixteen different birds.
