NWEA TESTING
Beginning next week our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will be participating in the NWEA Math and ELA online assessment. This assessment provides teachers with accurate, and actionable evidence to help target instruction for each student or groups of students regardless of how far above or below they are from their grade level. Teachers will be sharing their testing schedules with their families. Our Kindergarten-3rd grade students will begin testing the week of September 27th.
COVID-19 QUARANTINE PROCEDURES
We send the letter home if there is a confirmed or probable case of Covid-19 in the building. (A person with symptoms and who has had close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 10 days is considered a probable case of COVID-19. Please note.... a student who has symptoms but has not been in direct contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 is not considered probable.)
We work with the teachers and staff to identify close contacts of the affected person. A close contact is someone who is within 6 feet for more than 15 cumulative minutes throughout the day. We look at all areas such as the classroom, lunch room, bus, recess, specials, and SACC.
We then personally call each of our families that are affected and let them know that their student has been identified as a direct contact and will need to quarantine.
The quarantine guidelines have been adjusted to reflect the following for contacts:
- Direct contacts are to quarantine for 10 days from the date of exposure- we will provide the families with their return date
- After the 5th day of quarantine the family has the option of having the affected person take a PCR or Rapid Antigen Covid test through a medical provider (it cannot be a home test). If the test is negative and no symptoms develop, the student can return on day 8.
- A copy of the PCR test must be provided to the office prior to the student returning.
ALLERGY ACCOMMODATION FORMS 2021-2022
UCS takes food allergies very seriously. Parents must have the SNP Special Dietary Accommodations Form filled out and signed by a physician for students with a food allergy requiring a meal accommodation. This completed and signed form must be submitted to the Food and Nutrition Services department at foodservice@uticak12.org and is required before meal accommodations can be made. The SNP Special Dietary Accommodations Form must be submitted every year.
Allergy menus are found online at www.uticak12.nutrslice.com under the Elementary Allergy Menu tab. If your child requires a substitution, please inform your child's school at least 48 hours in advance.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
School officially begins at 8:40. Students may begin lining up outside their classroom door and supervision begins at 8:30 AM.
As a reminder, due to our security protocols, parents WILL NOT be allowed in the classroom.
Arrival Procedures
- Students will line up outside classroom door (or designated main door) beginning at 8:30 until the teacher welcomes them into the classroom.
- The drop off lane in the parking lot will allow students to exit vehicles on the passenger side and and walk to the crosswalk and then to their line up spot.
- Supervision does not begin until 8:30. Parents DO NOT leave your child unattended or drop them in the drop off lane prior to our supervision times.
Dismissal:
We will have staggered dismissal times again this year, with walkers/car riders/pickups dismissed from their door locations at 3:20 PM. At 3:28, teachers will walk all bus students to their bus for departure at 3:30 PM.
We have over 700 students attending Ebeling this year. The parking lot cannot accommodate everyone with a parking spot, and may be 'closed' to car entry at dismissal times. Be prepared to park on the street (Haverhill or Tilch) and walk in to the school property for pick up.
BICYCLES
All students riding bikes to school should lock their bikes on the bicycle racks provided near front driveway onto Haverhill, and at the back of the school off the catwalk. For safety purposes, all students must walk their bicycles on school grounds (all sidewalks front and back).
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance Policy
If your child is going to be absent call 586-797-4799 and leave us a message.
Your child will be excused from class for illness, bereavement, recognized religious holidays and medical or dental treatment that cannot be scheduled after school or on weekends.
Your child is responsible for makeup work.
Homework requests may be made for an absence of two or more days in the case of both excused and pre-excused absences.
Homework requests require 24 hours to process.
VACATION POLICY
Absence for family travel during scheduled school days is discouraged.
However, should family travel be necessary, parents must submit a written request to the teacher for a pre-excused absence at least one week in advance.
Arrangements to complete classroom assignments can be made with the teacher.
You can arrange for home study through the school principal should your child be absent from school for an extended period due to physical disability or illness.
LATE ARRIVAL
If a student arrives late to school, the parent must accompany the student into the office, and the student must be signed in before he or she can go to class.
Truancy officials will be contacted in the event of a student having excessive tardies or absences.
SECURITY PROCEDURES
We are asking for your assistance to ensure that our security procedures during the school day are effective. As many of you know, our school has a security camera, intercom, and buzzer at the front main entrance for use during the school day. To help us assist you when you would like to enter the school:
1. Please press the buzzer to speak with someone in the office
2. You will be asked to state your name and reason for visiting
3. You will be asked to show your photo ID into the security camera above the outside door
4. Office staff will then be able to buzz you inside
5. All visitors must immediately register in the office
In addition, we are asking you to not let any visitors in the door as you enter (and they come up behind you) or as you exit the building.
The teachers and staff are committed to student safety and security and we would like to thank you for your assistance in helping keep the students of Ebeling safe.
PTA MEETING:
Our Ebeling Elementary PTA provides educational & monetary support to our staff & students through fundraising events, community events and school activities. Please join us for the first meeting of the 2021-2022 school year!
