Homicide Facts
Did you know that according to the FBI, more than 70% of serial killers experienced problems related to substance abuse? Most encountered their substance abuse habits when they were young. Also, most killers suffered from child abuse while younger, which leads to many having an unfortunately low self- esteem as well as a poor ability to function well in society. Most, if not all, killers admit that they started harming animals before they begin killing other human beings (FBI 2). Homicide, as defined here, includes murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, which is the willful killing of one human being by another (Bureau Justice System 11). The murder capital of the US is known as Chicago; Chicago classified to have more homicides than any city in the nation as of 2012 (Zadrozny 1). As of 2012, an estimation of 14,827 people were murdered in the United States.( Zadrozny 1). Researching these statistics and realizing that if every person in Cashton, WI was dead/murdered, that it wouldn’t even come close to the number of people murdered in 2012.
