Principal's Message
Hello Ride Families,
Good afternoon! I hope this newsletter finds you well and invigorated by this spectacular weather. These are the weeks that make you appreciate everything good about being outside!
I hope you can all get outdoors and enjoy the mild and beautiful fall weather as it approaches Texas each year with some great family time this weekend. It seems we will get to enjoy similar weather for your 4-day weekend coming up Oct. 9th - 12th!
October 8th is the last day of our first nine weeks. I am so very proud of the teachers and challengers as they learned how to navigate school during these times. Everyone is doing a great job!
I know that the second nine weeks, which begins on Tuesday, October 13th, will be as amazing as the first.
As you may have heard, CISD is now offering free breakfast and lunch to all students under 18 years old. If your child forgets lunch one day, no worries - we will be able to provide a lunch at no cost. Even though it the two meals are free, it is still very important to complete the free and reduced forms if you qualify. There is also curbside food pick ups available. You will need your child's ID to pick up the food. Please see below for more details.
Enjoy your weekend,
Megan Burnham, Principal

Coats for Kids Drive
The Conroe ISD Health Department was consulted and approved of our coat drive and procedures.
Last year we received and distributed over 1,800 coats, jackets, hoodies, and sweaters!
Thanks so much for all you do in helping make our outreach programs successful!
Gifted and Talented Testing
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January for both remote and in-person platforms, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 18. Gifted and Talented referral link is attached. Please complete form digitally and email form to lscollins@conroeisd.net.
Save the Date - October 14 Spirit Night
October 9-12, our campus will be closed ~ Enjoy your Holiday
Our First Grade Teachers
Walk to School is now WALK THE PATHWAYS!
The new event, Walk the Pathways is a friendly, socially-distanced competition between elementary schools to encourage outdoor activity and promote pedestrian safety through experience and games. The competition will occur during two weeks in October: Sunday, October 11 through Saturday, October 24.

Attendance - In Person and Remote Learners
If your child is absent for any reason, they may do any one of the following to be counted present that day.
1. Student shows as active for the day in Canvas or SeeSaw report.
2. Student attends a live video conference in a platform such as Zoom or Canvas.
3. Student starts, completes or turns in an assignment from canvas, Seesaw, email, phone/video call, paper assignment.
Students have until 11:59PM on that specific day to participate.
It is very important to make every attempt at one of the three options.
I hope this helps explain the process for attendance.
School hours are 8:00 - 3:10. Doors open at 7:30am
Screen your child prior to coming to School
Our parents are valued partners in our Roadmap to Reopening Plan. In addition to wearing cloth face coverings, social distancing, washing hands, and regular cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces, an essential element in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 at school is each parent’s commitment to screening their child daily for symptoms. Parents are also asked to keep any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 at home and to notify the campus. Attached is a copy of the current screening process which outlines the symptoms. Please review the information and be sure to keep your child at home if he/she is exhibiting any of the symptoms described.
Please note that all campuses are closed to visitors at this time to help stop the spread of COVID-19. If you must visit a campus, we ask that you screen yourself prior to leaving your home. All visitors that come on a campus/facility will be required to use the Access Intercom system or call the front office from their vehicle. Once the reception area identifies the person and their need to be on campus, they will be allowed in the building. All visitors will be required to sign in using the visitor program. Each visitor will be asked the screening questions. If a “yes” response is given to one of the questions, the visitor will be asked to leave the campus immediately.
Parent/teacher conferences, ARDS, 504 meetings etc. will be held virtually or by telephone when possible.
Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham
Principal

Roadmap to Reopening Conroe ISD
One question recently has been if Enrichment was a required class?
CISD will send out Report Card each 9 weeks. If you receive a grade in a class/subject, then you should participate in that class.
Please go to the District's website for further information:
When to keep your Child Home From School
The district has created a handy flow chart to help understand if/when a child should stay home, who to notify, and what happens if a student is showing signs of illness. We hope you find this helpful as well.
