Nurses Corner
Dear Parents/Guardians:
This letter is to notify you that some of your students will be participating in the annual vision and hearing screening conducted at their school by the Calvert County Health Department. This is only a screening. We screen students at entry to school (PreK-K), 1st, and 9th grades. We also screen new students to the State and students referred by teachers, parents, the IEP review team and the Student Services Team (SST).
All students are required to be screened unless they have been evaluated by an optometrist/ophthalmologist within the past year.
If your student was recently screened by an optometrist/ophthalmologist, please provide documentation to the school nurse for your student’s health record. Listed below are the screening dates for your school. Students with glasses will need to bring them to school for the screening.
Please note that the dates are subject to change.
The Vision & Hearing Technician is scheduled to begin screening on PAC-A: January 8, 2024, and PAC-P on January 16, 2024.
Please feel free to contact your School Nurse at 443-550-9681 (Appeal Building) and 443-550-9709 (Patuxent) with any questions you have concerning this matter.
Thank you,
Alicia Mclain RN
