Whiteley Wildcat Update
July 12, 2020
Dear Whiteley Community,
First, I truly hope that you are spending time this summer making some wonderful memories with your families. Whether it is as simple as a meal out on the patio at home or an adventure like camping, amidst all that is going on, these are the times that are important. During these past few months, I have come to cherish the moments of laughter with my loved ones.
I wanted to take a moment to reach out to the community as I am sure there are several questions in regards to how we are preparing for the upcoming school year. Not only have I been working with district leadership, but our own staff leadership team here at Whiteley has been meeting over the summer to prepare. There are several areas that we are focusing on: arrival, recess, lunch, dismissal, hallway traffic and instructional delivery to name a few. The dedication of the staff to work on a multitude of variables has been impressive, as we follow the guidelines that have been set for schools. Please know that the safety of all is of the utmost importance. I am hoping that within the upcoming weeks to not only communicate through writing but also through a video to share what parents and students can expect for the 2020-2021 school year.
The 2020-2021 school year will look different from other school years. Whiteley’s goal will be to ensure the academic and social/emotional development and success of our students. As we are working diligently over the summer to create the best possible learning environment during these unusual times, we realize that no plan is perfect. Our goal, as a district and school, is to communicate updates as frequent as possible to keep our parents informed and to share the purpose of why decisions are being made. Families can expect some letters through the summer and a video from myself in August.
Recently, the district sent out a Road Map for parents with information about the upcoming school year. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to read through this information. The district is also requesting parents to complete a form to share their plans for their child’s education for the 2020-2021 school year. This form can be located on our district website.
I would like to close this letter with the sharing of our new theme for 2020-2021. We are excited about our new theme of Better Together! It is through staff, parents, community and students where we are able to create the best environment for our school. Despite the uncertainties we are currently facing, I am excited for the upcoming school year with our amazing Whiteley community!
