Northeast Newsletter
February 2021
Notes From Mrs. Ryan
Dear Northeast Families,
Starting on Monday, February 22, I am going to start a bi-monthly, 30 minute parent focus group. This is an optional event for parents who want to learn more about the topics that most impact your students at Northeast. We will come together via zoom for 15 minutes of learning around a school topic and then break into breakout sessions where you will meet with other parents to discuss the topic and provide feedback. If you are interested in attending the February or April events, please register using the Sign up link here. I will send you a reminder email and zoom link as we get closer to the event dates.
Here are the conversation topics for the upcoming months:
February 22 at 6:30 - What is Northeast Elementary doing to close the instructional gaps that exist if a student is not performing at grade level benchmarks?
April 26 at 6:30 - What is the Leader in Me framework, and why is it important for our students?
Notes From Nurse Andrea
Please continue to reach out if there is a known or suspected case of Covid-19 in the home. If you have any questions regarding symptoms, testing, quarantines, or vaccinations, you can always check for the latest information on the CDC website here.

Weather Reminders
Cold Weather Guidelines
Please ensure your student is sent to school wearing a coat, hat, and mittens to help keep them warm when they are outside. Putting their names on their items is highly encouraged. When the temperature and/or wind chill is at 0 degrees or below, students will not go outside for recess. The “feels like” temperature on the District website will be used as the official district temperature reading.
Inclement Weather
When school is canceled because of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances prior to the start of the school day, students and parents are notified via radio, district website, the district’s notification system, and television stations. Missed days may have to be made up at a later date.
If school is dismissed because of inclement weather after the school day has begun, parents are notified by the same means. The superintendent determines whether buses will follow the regular routes. If the buses do not follow the regular routes, they follow emergency routes or parents are responsible for picking up the students at the student’s school. Extracurricular activities or practices scheduled for the day or evening of a day when school is canceled or dismissed early are generally canceled and rescheduled. The activities director may determine whether to hold extracurricular activities or practices. If the activity is to be held, students and parents are notified in the same manner as the notification that school was dismissed.
