PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Hello Aitken families,
Today officially ends Aitken's Creative Awareness Week!
I want to thank Mrs. Glum for all of her hard work this week, and the hours of planning that went into it! I also want to thank our amazing Aitken PTO for their many hours of support. Hopefully everyone from the Aitken school community had an opportunity to visit last night's Art Fair. The incredible artwork from our students, along with the unveiling of the new student mural, truly made it a night to remember.
This Monday there is no school in observance of Memorial Day. This special day honors the men and woman who died while serving in the U.S. military. We thank all military service-members, past and present, for their service to our country.
We are please to announce the Aitken End-of-Year Bash! Please see the flyer below with details. You should have received a hardcopy that went home with your child earlier this week. This event requires parents to sign-up. All payments must be received by 6/9.
Please review the Parent Reminders below:
- In an effort to clear the congestion near the pick-up areas, we ask that parents and guardians do not congregate outside during the arrival and dismissal times. Once you have picked up your child, please transition to another area
- Please help us to keep the grass and fields that surround Aitken in good condition. Many vehicles have been parking on the grass, or driving on the fields, resulting in deep tire treads embedded in the field. Our students will be using these fields when the weather warms up, and we want to ensure that they have a safe and appropriate place to play. In the coming months, we will be sectioning off this area to ensure that we preserve the grounds for our students.
- School starts at 8:45. Drop off prior to this time is not recommended as your child will not be supervised by school staff prior to 8:45.
- If your child has a change in their dismissal status (i.e. taking the bus and is not going to Champions), please notify the Main Office no later than 11:00 to ensure that proper arrangements are made with the Main Office.
- Please yield to our pedestrians when picking up and dropping off your child, and remember to drive slowly as you traverse the back of the school. Traffic signs on the property must be followed at all times. This includes one-way and stop signs.
- If you wish to pick up your child in person, please park your vehicle in a designated area, and not on the roadway. Parking and leaving your vehicle in the roadway is strictly prohibited.
- Only certified service animals are allowed on the Aitken property. If you have any questions, please contact the main office at Aitken.
- We ask that all parents who drop-off, please open the car door for your child when they exit the vehicle. This will make for a safer and smoother drop-off routine.
- Please refrain from having your child bring in personal items to school that could be lost or damaged (i.e. sports equipment, Pokemon cards, electronics).
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out anytime.
