Professional Learning Networks
edWeb.net is a Professional Learning Community where you can join specific communities to connect with other educators on a wide range of topics. In the communities their are free webinars, both live and on-demand. Youcan also share ideas and resources, find ways to improve teaching and get advice from experts.
Teaching Channel is a Web site full of video resources focused on teachers' classroom practices. Through the site, teachers can watch videos of teachers working in their classrooms as a way to learn from, and provide feedback to, peers in their profession. There is also a place for teachers to share lesson ideas and across a wide range of subjects and grade levels.
Twitter is a great place to network and collect ideas for your classroom. Although Twitter has a a variety of uses, many teachers are harnessing it to provide them with professional development ideas that will improve student learning. One of the keys to using it successfully is to follow professionals that you can connect with that post specific ideas for your area of teaching.
