Party on the Playground

TeSA Families,

This Friday, March 3rd, is TCA+A’s Party on the Playground! This event is free for all TeSA families and will be a celebration of our Annual Campaign which has raised over $30,000 so far! We will have a bounce house, activities, a school-wide art project and free snacks. Get to know other families and party with us March 3rd from 4pm to 6pm. We are also looking for volunteers to help with this event. If interested, sign up HERE.

Due to dismissal safety, parking will not be allowed in the south parking lot until 4:00. If you arrive earlier, please park in the west lot (facing Village Parkway) or in the neighborhood on the south side of the school.

Click HERE to donate to the Annual Fund and share with any friends and family ready to support arts and academics!

Artistically & Academically Yours,

Betsy Compton, M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed.

Texas Independence Day = Thursday

All students are invited to show their Texas pride by wearing red, white, and blue or western wear this Thursday, March 2nd. There is no cost for this opportunity. If you know a 4th grader, ask them to tell you about our Texas history!

Read Across America Day = Thursday

Thursday is also Read Across America Day. Read Across America was launched in 1998 by the National Education Association and was designed to inspire all students to read. Our students will have time to read during the day and we hope you'll share family reading time in the evening.

Click HERE to see the Read Across America recommended book list. Titles in this list are all about a love for books and reading.

PTO Update: Playground Improvements

The new buddy bench, teachers' benches, virgin rubber mulch, small shades, and a tree have been ordered. The new tree should be planted next week! Also, we are working with a Scout working on his Eagle Scout rank who will be installing a fence between the playground and the field. We look forward to the completion of these projects this spring semester. A BIG thank you to everyone who helped raise money during the Dance-A-Thon fundraiser in the fall to pay for these improvements!

Repeated Information

Student Progress

If you missed the Student-Led Conferences last week, be sure to check your child's binder for copies of their testing reports. All of these reports help our teachers plan lessons to meet the needs of each student.

MAP (K-5th) = This assessment adapts to students' responses in real time, creating an individualized test to measure their skills in math or reading compared to students across the nation.

TX-KEA (K only) = This assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of each child's development, including literacy, language, math, science, executive functioning, social/emotional, and motor skills.

TPRI (1st-2nd) = This assessment provides an overview of students' strengths and weaknesses in reading, including letter sounds, word reading, fluency, accuracy, and comprehension.

STAAR Interim (3rd-5th) = This assessment is a tool to predict STAAR performance in Reading, Math, and/or Science (5th only) by testing over a broad sampling of Texas standards and identify students for intervention prior to taking the official STAAR.

2023-2024 Enrollment

All current students are automatically admitted to TeSA for the following school year. If your child will NOT be returning to TeSA, please email tammy.smith@mytesa.org to be removed from our 2023-2024 rosters and give your child's spot to a new student. If your plans are pending, please wait to confirm and then let us know. Thank you for helping us plan ahead!

Save the Dates: Spring Musicals

All K-5th grade students will participate in our spring musicals. These performances are an extension of the classroom and help our students meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each grade-level. Please save these dates and do not plan any doctors appointments, etc., on the day of your child's show.

More details will be sent through grade-level newsletters soon!

Celebration Treats

Treats and small prizes are allowed for birthdays or other celebrations at school. Treats will be distributed by the teacher or designated volunteer at the teacher's discretion or at the end of the school day. Due to potential allergens, only non-food items or wrapped, labeled items are allowed.

TeSA can now help you celebrate! Our cookies are only 2 for $1.00! Cookies come in chocolate chip, carnival, or sugar. You can order all one flavor or a variety, and Ms. Denise and Ms. Clarissa will make sure they are delivered to your child's classroom.

To order, email denise.thomas@mytesa.org at least 2 days prior to your child's birthday or special event.

Absences

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please email tammy.smith@mytesa.org. Students with any contagious symptoms may attend Remote Conferencing to complete schoolwork and earn daily attendance. Remote Conferencing helps our students, and helps TeSA by allowing us to count your child's attendance! Thank you for helping your child participate by providing a quiet environment in which they can easily see the screen and be seen by the teacher.

Remote Conferencing
