Important Update Regarding School Closures
Dear TUSD Parents and Guardians:
The TUSD Board of Education met today and passed an emergency resolution in response to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, all Tustin Unified schools will be closed from Monday, March 23, through Friday, April 10, 2020.
This decision was reached after considering the health and safety of TUSD students and staff, the guidance provided by the State of California, and in consultation with Orange County public health and education agencies. The TUSD Board recognizes the importance of schools in the lives of students and families, thus, this is not an easy decision, nor one taken lightly.
The District will continue to provide education to all TUSD students and will serve student meals at locations and times to be determined and communicated later this week. These services will begin at the conclusion of the District’s spring break. Students and families will receive information directly from teachers and principals regarding the instructional program by Tuesday, March 24.
Fortunately, the District has excellent resources available for online distance learning. For students who need devices or internet connectivity at home, please communicate with your school principal who will coordinate their distribution through our Information Technology Department.
I want to thank the staff who are working tirelessly to help students to remain connected to the school community. We know the staff on a school campus are an important part of a student’s life and will do our best to maintain that connection.
Thank you for your patience and trust as we work together to provide for the safety and education of students. The coming weeks will be challenging, and all of us will need to be flexible as we adapt to the changing situation. Please know the District is committed to doing everything possible to help you and your children.
Tustin Unified will keep you informed in this rapidly changing situation. We encourage you to check our website regularly at https://www.tustin.k12.ca.us
Sincerely,
Gregory A. Franklin, Ed.D.
Superintendent
