Outside Temperature and Recess
It is the time of year when our weather changes from warm to chilly to very cold all in the matter of days or even hours. Here is the KISD policy on Cold Weather and when we go outside during the school day.
At or below 40 degress including the wind chill factor:
*Students may go outside if clothing allows for proper coverage and protection from the cold
At or below 32 degrees including the wind chill factor:
*Students stay inside for recess and PE
Rain, lightning, sleet, snow and or ice—All Elementary students stay inside!
Our Before School Morning Mile weather is slightly different, we do not have Morning Mile if the temperature with wind chill is below 40 degrees. The difference is because of the early morning timeframe as well as the length of time students would be running. We also have noticed on extremely chilly days, we have fewer students participate.
The light snow fall last month has me in the mood for the holidays, hot cocoa and hot fires! However, the Spring Carnival will be here before we know it. Carnival is so fantastic because of all the hard work of our parents and staff. This spring will mark Liberty Elementary’s 10th Anniversary! Carnival will be our decade birthday party!! We are forming planning committees now! Please contact Aprel Dobson at 817-846-3963 or firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up at the LES PTA website at https://libertyelementarypta.membershiptoolkit.com/home to volunteer to serve on one of the following committees.
Silent Auction Committee:
Help contact local businesses and organizations for donations, coordinate pick-up of donations, and package donations for the auction. We will meet once in January and then only as needed.
Help identify and contact entertainment vendors (i.e. bounces houses, rock climbing wall, music, etc.). We will meet once in January and then only as needed.
Help identify and contact local restaurants and food trucks to provide specialty food items. In-n-Out Burger will be providing dinner this year. We will meet once in January and then only as needed.
Conceptualize, purchase and/or make new games as needed. We will meet once in January and then only as needed.
Help identify and contact local businesses and organizations to set up tables to provide product, service, and summer camp information. We will meet once in January and then only as needed.
Help create the volunteer sign-up list for the PTA website and contact district high schools for volunteers. We will meet once in February and then only as needed.
