November 6, 2020
I was humbled by the enthusiasm and interest from the individuals in our community who stepped up to the plate to vie for a seat on the School Board for Tipton Community School Corporation. All candidates were in good company with their interest and intent. There is no greater contribution than serving as a member of the leadership team who set the goals and the vision for a successful district.
We are pleased to welcome Andrea Campbell (Jefferson Township), Jennifer Humricous (City of Tipton), Amber Rodibaugh (Madison Township), and Susan Sloan (Cicero Township) to the TCSC School Board. They join Chris McNew (City of Tipton), April Overdorf (Cicero Township), and Gary Plumer (City of Tipton). We share our deep gratitude to outgoing board members for their service and contributions to the corporation. Thank you Jim Ankrum (Cicero Township), Gary Johnson (City of Tipton), Kegan Schmicker (Madison Township), and Randy Sottong (Jefferson Township) for your leadership and countless hours of work that have greatly benefitted the students of our district during your tenure.
Behind the scenes the corporation has been diligently working on migrating and updating content from the current website to the new site, which will be rolled out the first quarter of 2021. The new website will feature a cleaner and more attractive design with enhanced functionality to enable easy access to a wealth of information included throughout. It will be easier to navigate, more mobile responsive, and have the same URL. Meanwhile, the current site will remain live during this process.
Today, is an eLearning Professional Development Day (PDD) for our educators. These scheduled PDD’s provide new growth opportunities and are an investment in our teachers, students, and district. We deeply value our teacher’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, effectiveness and through their desire to improve student engagement, satisfaction, and performance.
Earlier in the week, we transitioned our entire third grade class and all third grade teachers to E-learning through next Friday, November 13 out of an abundance of caution after receiving notification of a positive confirmation for COVID-19 among one of our teachers. We look forward to seeing our third-grade teachers and students back in the building on Monday, November 16.
On Wednesday, Indiana State Health Commissioner, Dr. Kristina Box, said the state continues to trend upward in new cases and hospital admissions for COVID-19. Tipton County is among the 74 of Indiana’s 92 counties that have been designated as “higher-risk” locations for coronavirus spread. Let’s continue to be extra vigilant in doing our part to reduce transmission and spread in our community.
As Veterans Day approaches, I want to take a moment to thank all of the Veterans in Tipton County and across the United States for their service and sacrifice. To those who have served, or are serving our great country, thank you! #TiptonPride
