What Do School Counselors Do? (Part 3)
“So, what do you want to do after high school?” This is a question that is often asked of high school students around the nation. While some students know what they want to do or where they want to go, many students are still trying to figure it out. School counselors can help.
One of the greatest tools our district has to offer is CareerCruising. This website can help students plan out their 4-year plan for high school and can also help them discover their abilities and passion. Once a student logs in, they can click on the assessment link at the top of the screen. The assessment area has 3 different tools they can use: interest inventory, ability profiler and a learning inventory. Each one can give your student valuable information. Encourage your student to participate in these assessments and then come in and see his/her counselor. We can go over the results and help your student navigate the options presented.
Finding your passion and abilities can be an “aha” moment. Let’s work together to discover the answer to the question, “What do you want do after high school?”.
Freshman Meetings
Thank you parents for setting up your student’s 4-year plan meetings. They are going great. If you haven’t called in yet, please do so soon. We would like to have all 9th grade student/parent meetings completed by the end of February.
Call your student’s house office this week.
