The Future C.W. Cline Elementary

Construction Update

We are excited to see the beginnings of the foundation being poured and it won't be long before we will start to see the structure coming together. What an exciting time! As you can see from the pictures below, Cline was built without a gym and P.E. was held outside on a slab. How education has changed! We are currently meeting with the team to look at furniture and all of the items that will go inside the building.

We are also planning for new spaces that we don't currently have, such as a much larger (library) which we call the Learning Commons. This will include a "makerspace" and be multipurpose space for grade level presentations, robotics and the like. We also are planning for our innovation hubs, which are two rooms that can used for traditional science labs but also open up for other purposes.

We are working with PTO to identify those wants and needs and will be using the proceeds from Clinefest and monies raised by PTO to fund those items.

Join the PTO!

Our PTO is an amazing group of parents who work very hard to make school extraordinary for the students. We encourage you to join PTO and volunteer in any way that you can. There is a lot of research that shows, when parents are involved in schools and model that school is important, students benefit and have greater achievement in their academics.

Counselors corner

This week our students are learning about respect - what that means and how to show respect. We encourage you to ask your child about this and what they learned. Click on the link below for some ideas that you can do at home to reinforce this and practice respect outside of the school setting.

Standards Based Learning and Grading

This year, Cline Elementary will be using Standards Based Learning and Grading in all classrooms. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on our students as they move through our school and grow in their knowledge and skills.

With every occupation, there are acronyms and terminologies used that the general public doesn't. Education is no different. We are looking forward to the upcoming parent orientation when we can explain and answer questions that you might have regarding standards based grading.

Our ultimate goal is that grades reflect a students progress and mastery of the standards, and as a result, our students have a renewed sense of optimism, hope, and confidence.
