Lord, it is good for us to be here! Matthew 17:4

This week is Discover Catholic Education Week! If you haven’t liked our school’s Facebook page yet, please do so. We have been posting reasons to choose Catholic education, particularly St. John the Baptist Catholic School. We would love to add parent testimonials as well. If you would be willing to share a quote about your experience with our school, we would love to share it! Please send it my way at any time!

To conclude Discover Catholic Education Week, we will celebrate with SPIRIT WEAR tomorrow AND free dress bottoms!! If you have the opportunity, snap a picture of your child in his/her spirit wear and post it on your social media, if you have it, and tag the school or post it on our Facebook page. Use our hashtags #StJohnJags #adventureawaits when posting pictures. We love to see pictures of our students proudly sporting their gear!

We are halfway through the 2nd quarter! You will find your child’s mid-quarter report in today’s blue folder.

Our 2nd-8th graders had a great trip to Cahokia Mounds! We are thankful for the opportunity thanks to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

School Spirit Wear Store Our school spirit wear store is open up again in case you need to grab cooler weather gear or want to snag a gift or 2 for Christmas! The store will close on November 25th at midnight. All items are scheduled to be delivered before the Christmas break. Scroll down to find the link.

SCRIPMANIA TOTAL: Are you ready for the new Scrip Mania total?!?!? I get so excited to check our new balance each week! Our new Scripmania Total for this week is $18,080…So now we will be giving away 7 FREE gift cards on December 6th! Keep up the GREAT work!!! We are only $1,920 away from giving away an 8th FREE gift card! Make sure to share with family and friends so that they can join in on the fun too and it can count towards your tuition! Remember our goal is $42,500!

Congratulations to our 1st grade class who has 100% family participation and have earned themselves the Christmas Party Celebration! 3rd grade is still right behind them with 83%!!! Once the class hits 100% participation, then that class automatically earns the Pajama Christmas Party! AND more than one class can earn the party! One Scrip order qualifies your family as participating. You can place a backpack order, order from our inventory, or place an e-card order through the app! It all qualifies for this fun incentive and earns you tuition credit! Check out your student’s class below.

Scrip Our next Backpack order will be TOMORROW, Friday, Nov. 19th! We will have them by Tuesday to send home for the Thanksgiving Break. So plan out your Black Friday shopping and get your orders turned in tomorrow by 8:00AM! Or use the app for last minute purchases to use the gift card immediately! Let me know if you have any questions about this program!

ThankScriping Day is coming November 18 – 19. Families earn up to 20% with 120+ bonuses on eGift cards and reloaded gift cards during the busy holiday shopping season. It’s a great opportunity to get closer to your fundraising goal.

Camp Jag Days Our next Camp Jags day is Wednesday, November 24th. The camp fee is $20 per day, per student from 7:00 A.M. till 3 P.M, or Camp Jag + Extended Care is $25 per day, per student from 7:00 A.M. till 6:00 P.M. in the Munier Center. Campers must bring lunch but snacks will be provided. If you are interested in having your child attend on the 24th, please contact Mrs. Generous BY TOMORROW. We only have 3 students registered, so we will have to cancel it if we do not have more students sign up. We have decided to cancel Friday, November 26th due to no one registering for the day. If you have any questions, Please contact Mrs.Generous secretary@stjohnnsschool.us or Mrs. Ganey @ mjganey@stjohnsschool.us.

Butter Braid Sales We have collected $2,797 online orders so far! Great job...keep it up! Remember that all orders will still be delivered to us. Orders cannot be shipped. All orders will need to be turned in by Monday, December 6th. Butter Braids are popular for Christmas morning breakfasts, and we will have them just in time before Christmas break! Our delivery is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15th. All orders will need to be picked up that day at the end of the school day.

We do have some incentives wrapped into this fundraiser as well. Our school goal is to sell $10,000 worth of Butter Braids which would result in $4,000 profit!

~For families who sell $50-$149, students get a free dress card (prize box for PK)

~For families who sell $150-$249, students get a drink of their choice & free dress (prize box for PK students)

~For families who sell $250 or more, students get a Papa John's pizza lunch, a drink of their choice, and a free dress card (prize box for PK students)

As a school, if we sell $10,000 worth of Butter Braids, every class will get popcorn and a movie one afternoon.

Thanksgiving Feast Our Thanksgiving Feast is Tuesday, November 23rd. All students had the opportunity to place an order from a restaurant that they decided on as a class. So no need to pack a lunch that day! Please make sure to send in your child’s order and payment by the date that your teacher asked for it to be returned.

Girls on the Run I received information in regards to Girls on the Run, however, we are needing an adult sponsor. If you are interested in organizing and leading a Girls on the Run group for our school, please contact me.

December Lunch/Recess Volunteer You will find the link below to sign up for our school days in December for lunch and recess duty. We thank you in advance for helping!

Advent Focus Advent is a perfect time to help those in need. We are partnering with Catholic Urban Programs and the Hub Foods Helpers project. Hub Foods is a client choice pantry program. It is set up like a grocery store and participants can shop for the families with the assistance of volunteers. We are really incorporating the project beyond just a food drive. We want to take this opportunity to teach our students about food insecurity and how it impacts people in our community. We are asking each classroom to focus on a few particular items. Please look for those items from your child’s classroom teacher. I have attached the full list of items needed if you would like to help out beyond what your student is collecting. Please have all items to school by Tuesday, December 14th.

Have a great evening and weekend!

~Mrs. Lanham
