Bowie Choir Update

Oct. 3, 2014

End of the 1st Six Weeks

Amazingly, the first six weeks of school ends TODAY! PLEASE MAKE SURE that you as parent and student have electronically signed the Bowie Choir Handbook! There is NO ONE IN THE DEPARTMENT that should be failing for this six weeks! The only reason you may have a failing grade is because the handbook has not been signed. Yes, it is that important! The link to read the handbook is HERE. The link to sign the handbook is HERE.

Let's work towards 100% completion of information in CHARMS, payment of Activity Fee, and completion of the BOWIE CHOIR HANDBOOK. Click on the picture below if you're still needing to take care of these items!

Place a Parent Ad in the 2014-15 Choir Programs

The Bowie Choir Boosters invite you to place an advertisement in the Bowie Choral Department concert programs for the upcoming school year. The concert program is a great opportunity for you to show your support and love for your student in the Bowie Choral Department. Pictures, notes of encouragement, and “break a legs” are the types of gestures that create lasting memories for your student (even if they won’t admit it right now!).

We are very proud of our music department and our student musicians. The Bowie Choral Department has shown tremendous growth over the last five years, gaining UIL Sweepstakes awards as well as Concert and Sight Reading commendations. Our student dedication and passion for music shows through in their preparation and performance.

The discounted price for Parent Ads are listed below. One payment covers all programs for the school year. *Please note, these prices are for parent ads only. Business ads are at another price point. Contact Mr. Lobaugh for details.*

Our 2014-2015 Parent Ad prices are:

o Business Card (1/8) Page ad: $20
o One-fourth page ad: $30
o Half page ad: $50
o Full page ad: $75

To place an order, complete an online form HERE

All Ads and payment must be made no later than Friday, October 3, 2014 in order to be placed in the October program.

Opera Update

We have 57 students signed up for 46 slots! This is a wonderful problem to have! If your student has signed up for the Opera, be on the lookout for an email from me with more information! If you signed up and know that you cannot go, please shoot me an email (HERE) and let me know, so that I can move down to the next person.

9/10 Honor Choir and Round 2 Auditioners: Make sure you are practicing at home! See Mr. Lobaugh or Mrs. Batsel if you need help after school!

Are you getting this in an email?

If not, then you're not on the mailing list! I took the mailing list from CHARMS a couple of weeks ago. If you are not receiving this newsletter in your email inbox (meaning you ARE reading it on the website - way to go!), simply scroll back up to the top of the page and click on the "follow" ghost!

I will be attempting to send out weekly updates through this newsletter format. This will be posted on the news/notes page of, and I will send them through email. While I don't expect that we will have information to share with you EVERY week, I do want to make an effort to keep you as parents updated as to the happenings in the Bowie Choir Department.
