Hi Team!
How's your week going? Anyone up to anything exciting this week/weekend? I've been busy processing Be Rich donations and it is so FUN to get an inside look at the generosity of our church.
Have you noticed that our attendance numbers are starting to creep back up? It's fun to see all the new faces. Thank you for loving on those little ones. You do such a great job and it is so fun to serve alongside each of you.
If you were at the 3:45 Meeting last week, Wendy challenged us to be intentional about our next step in growing our faith. She also challenged us to share our next step - big or small - with each other. My hope is that we can take some time this month and do just that during our pre-service meetings. We will start this week and keep going until we've heard from everyone that is willing to share.
This challenge comes at a great time for me. I'm currently reading "The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth" by John Maxwell. It's a book I definitely recommend. It has given me the nudge to be intentional about devising a personal growth plan for several areas of my life--especially my faith.
In one part of the book, Maxwell writes this quote: "God's gift to us: potential. Our gift to God: developing it". After reading this, I realized that I suffer from what I'm calling an "ordinary complex". In many areas of life, I believed that I am so ordinary that God wouldn't use me. Essentially, I believed that I didn't have the potential it takes to be used by Him. I think this led to a fear of failure and so instead of stepping out in faith and acting on some of nudges that God put on my heart I would do NOTHING. God has used this book to reveal this truth: I wasn't created to be ordinary. I was created in the image of God and that's pretty extraordinary. I have a ton of potential in Christ.
So this leads me to my next step. My next step in growing my relationship with my Heavenly Father is to step out in faith rather than fear and act on some of the whispers God has been speaking into my heart. These include:
- Go on a mission trip in 2014 - I'm not even kidding when I tell you that as I type this someone just walked over to my desk and asked me to be on a trip she is leading in January. WHAT?!? Doesn't God know that by 2014 I meant like the end of 2014?
- Fostering/Adopting - taking the first steps in fostering. This week I spoke with someone in the Fostering Together program. The next step is to volunteer to serve a foster family. We will be filling out this paper work in the coming weeks
- Lead a Thrive group - We are apprenticing now. The real test will be us taking the leap to sign up to lead a group next year.
- Find a Mentor - there are several people that I would love to ask but just haven't had the courage to take that next step.
Thank you for your willingness to hear my next steps. Please feel free to hold me accountable and ask me how it's going. I can't wait to hear and be encouraged by your next steps. I hope you all have a great weekend.
See you on Sunday!
Lindsey
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) starts this Sunday. Toddlers through Fours will receive a box as their take home. There will be an OCC box station right outside of Waumba Land for volunteers and parents who need a box. Last year over 20,000 gift-filled shoe boxes were given through Operation Christmas Child. Let's all Be Rich and grab a box.
"Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share." 1 Timothy 6:18
Happy Anniversary Brittany!
Brittany and her hubby Branton are celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary this weekend. (Look at that GORGEOUS couple!) They are off on a surprise get-away. Congrats on an incredible first year of marriage, Brittany. We will miss you this week--hope you have an awesome trip!
(Confession--I may or may not have Facebook stalked you to get this picture. Sorry.)
