Quaker Life in Lower and Middle Schools (QuLLMS) Peer Network Gathering
Monday, November 9, 2015 (8:30 am to 3:00 pm)
Friends Center, 1507 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102
Who or what has nutured you spiritually in your life?
Did you know?
"Programmed worship offers a setting in which those gathered express their praise, burdens, and statements of faith together through prayer, singing, and prepared messages."
Unprogrammed Meeting for Worship:
"Unprogrammed Friends meetings follow the tradition of gathering in silence, without the services of a designated pastor or minister.
Worship begins when the first person enters the room and takes a seat. This means that if you are entering a room where people have begun to gather, you are entering a meeting for worship that is already in progress."
How can we teach the members of our community to speak into the silence?
What practices do we find most helpful in our own school communities?
What resources exist to guide me on my journey?
Quakerism Resource Manual for Small Friends Schools
Teachers and administrators from twelve different schools and the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting gathered to share curriculum and resources in order to create this manual for all Friends schools. This manual contains information about Quaker beliefs, history and practices, as well as many activities and resources for teachers to use within their classroom and beyond.
How can we take these ideas and inspirations back to our own classroom communities?
How can we serve each other as resources and friends beyond today?
