home made kite
Ulysses Trujillo
my blue print
My group came up with the idea to make a diamond kite because it was use to make electricity. We used a bag for the body, a ribbon for the tail, and wooden sticks to hold it in place. We used tape to put every thing down. For the string we used yarn. We are currently in the testing stage.
How to
what you will need
you will a ruler, trash bag,tape,2 sticks, and scissors, also some ribbon for the tail.
step 1 cut the bag
Take the trash bag and cut it into the shape of a square. The square needs to be 58cm long and 59cm wide.Tilt the bag so is a diamond.
step 2
Take the two sticks. the one going up and down should be 58cm and the one going side to side should be 59cm.
step 3
ribbon on the bottom and both sides are going to be 3cm long.
step 4
Use six pieces of tape that are 4cm long. The tape will go on each point of the kite (this will hold the sticks to the bag). The two left will be to hold the two stick on the center of the kite.
step 5
Get the sowing string, that will be the string that will be attached to the kite. With the actual string you van use to fly it.
WARNING
Do not fly in storm. Benjamin Franklin made that mistake.
problem six
On May 16,1987,Troy Vickstrom decided to measure speed of his maneuverable kite across the beach in Lincoln city,Oregon. The kites speed of 108 miles per hour was measured using a police radar gun. Afterwards, the police issued a citation for exceeding the maximum speed in an area with a posted speed of 20 mph. (the ticket was a joke.) How can you measure the speed of a moving kite? you can measure the speed of the wind because the kite moves with the winds speed.
Problem four
The largest kites built in Japan are flown in Hoshubana every May. The kites are 36 feet wide and 48 feet tall with bridle lines more than 100 feet long. It takes fifty members of the O-dako (Giant Kite) Association of Hoshubana to launch this giant creation. Each team member is suitably uniformed in a traditional festival jacket that matches the kite. The kite is made from individual pieces of rice paper, each glued together at the edges. If each sheet is 18 inches wide and 24 inches tall, how many sheets are needed to create the sail of this Japanese kite?they will need for pieces tho make the kite.
