Induction Providers 2023-2024
Douglas County School District ~ June 27, 2023
Welcome Returning and New Induction Providers!
This year is going to be an exciting adventure of sharing ideas, looking at data, participating in PLC cycles, learning from peers, and reading great articles to enhance your practice of supporting new teachers.
We will have a block of time, at each PLS meeting, to dive deeper in the world of teacher induction. This block of time will be planned and driven by an Induction Advisory team made up of PLS and CIA members. More to come at the first PLS meeting in August.
Induction Tracking Document
We are doing this to align with requirements in the CDE Induction Rubric. More information will be shared at the next PLS meeting in August. Many of you wanted to get started on your forms before school started.
Resources to Look At.... On your Own Pace!
Hopefully, you are finding time to enjoy the sun!
Induction Monthly Resources
If you don't like the layout make sure to click on the month of July to see another version. The resources and themes are the same in both documents. Both templates were equally liked by the Induction Advisory Council. That is why we included both versions.
September and October will be completed by July 31st.
Induction Basics 101 Slides
We will be going over these slides at the first PLS meeting. The slides are very helpful to new induction providers. Veteran providers will notice there are a couple of slides with new updates, based on your data from the last school year and the new CDE Teacher Induction Rubric.
Canvas
Ryan Gudmundson and Kendall Kreiser will be supporting you in setting up your home page in Canvas for the year.
-Canvas will continue to be the main housing tool for induction since it aligns to the CDE Induction Rubric. The data, collected from many of you last year, showed pros and cons for Canvas. Good news is that you will have options for DCSD Growth Plans and documentation. Some can use all the bells and whistles of Canvas while others just have DCSD Growth Plans linked. Thank you for your input because it was very helpful to drive the process this year.
-Future sessions will be available to support you in setting up your induction page in Canvas.
Induction Club for Providers
What: A club that meets to share ideas for monthly induction, learns from peers, and looks at researched articles to support teachers in their first few years of teaching.
Who: Any induction provider new to the induction role or veteran provider wanting to change up their induction!
Why: It has never been more important to keep teachers in the teaching profession. Gathering ideas to support teachers in their first few years is critical.
How: We will meet one evening a month. The gatherings will take place at Legacy Campus from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The group will vote on the evening that works best for them each month. A course will be designed for this club to get credit.
