Message From the Principal
One of the most captivating narratives that we read in Parshat Vayigash is about the reunification of Yosef with his family. The Torah sets forth in great detail Yosef’s first encounter with his father and brothers after more than two decades of separation.
The Torah’s focus on Yosef being reunited with his family is a strong reminder for us just how significant the concept of family is in Judaism. Much of our tradition emphasizes the importance of family, not just how we treat our family and honor our parents, but how we make family a central theme in our religious observance. Whether it be during the chagim or on Shabbat, the time we spend with our family in service to Hashem should be time that we cherish and enjoy.
I encourage you to join us for a special family-centered program that will take place in the Kohelet Yeshiva Beit Midrash next Shabbat. Our inaugural Friday Night Family Program is a terrific opportunity for all of our KYLS families to come together for a wonderful event, which will include a kid friendly Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat dinner. In addition to each individual family being able to spend time together during this extraordinary program, it will also afford us an opportunity to spend time together as the KYLS family with other members of our local community. The program does not only focus on our children, it focuses on our entire family. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Friday Night Family Program next week for what is sure to be a meaningful and memorable event.
Here is a link to the tefillot we will be singing out loud so that you can listen to it with your children to help prepare them and get them excited about the program and davening together. Please RSVP to mtwersky@yeshivalabschool.org by Monday.
Shabbat Shalom
