New GIS Programs at Temple
The Department of Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University now offers a Professional Science Master's (PSM) and Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
What is GIS? GIS lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. It is anything that combines data with maps. The Department of Labor has identified GIS as a high-growth job industry, growing at an annual rate of 35%, with applications across many fiends.
The PSM in GIS is an accredited program, designed to train a highly-competent workforce, ready to meet the demands of the job market. Our curriculum integrates rigorous technical training with business, ethics, and professional development. Our program is designed for professionals and can be completed full time in calendar year.
The Graduate Certificate in GIS is a 12-credit certification that is available to current students as well as students who are not enrolled in a specific program. The certificate can be completed as a stand-alone program or students may apply to the PSM in GIS and, if accepted, can apply all certificate credits toward the PSM.
