Our 1st Hawk Nest Lesson: Information Item
Our first Hawks Nest will meet during our regularly scheduled Second Step time on Wednesday, 9/12.
Our Hawks Nest aligns with our D97 goal of having every child known, nurtured, and celebrated. As well as serves as a vehicle for introducing Leader In Me language to our students.
Our Hawks Nest also provides students with a sense of belonging which is one of our School Improvement goals. Please be sure to make a meaningful connection with ALL students in your nest.
Your Hawk Nest roster and location for your group will be sent to you prior to Wednesday 9/12.
Our practice has been to have all 4th / 5th-grade students from your group pick up their kindergarten and 1st-grade friends from their classrooms. We will make announcements over the intercom system for 4th and 5th-grade students to go to their nests. When our older students arrive, teachers will be given the older students their index card with the names of the kindergarten and 1st-grade students with room numbers to use to go pick up their students. Once they pick up students they should give the cards back to their classroom teachers for the next week. Grade 2, 3, and 4 students will travel independently to the location of their nest.
It’s essential that all teachers remain at classroom doorways to monitor student movement.
In addition to giving you your roster, we will also give you individual index cards for your students so they know where they are going.
Please be sure to collect these after we meet so you have them for the following month.

Request For PD: Information Item
If you would like to attend any PD session you will need to complete this PD request form and meet with me to discuss the conference and receive initial approval. Once I approve your attendance, it then goes to the district for Dr. Warke’s approval.
After you complete this Google form, you will also need to complete the attached PD approval form.
STAFF NEWSLETTERS: ACTION ITEM
As a reminder, grade level teams or individual teachers need to send newsletters to families on at least a monthly basis. Whether it is weekly or monthly, please be sure to cc me so I can remain informed on all the amazing things you are doing in your classrooms.
If you have sent any welcome letters, please be sure to forward them to me.
