Solar Eclipse 2017
We had such an amazing experience with our students on Monday, August 21 when students got to experience the solar eclipse with viewers provided by BISD. We enjoyed hearing their gasps of amazement and squeals of excitement! We know this is something they will not soon forget!
Curriculum Night Rescheduled
Core Essential Value for September 2017
Last month we talked about Respect, and this month we will learn about Friendship! Our goal is for students to be able to:
1. Say it! - Students can simply say the value word.
2. Know It! - Students can describe the value word in their own words!
3. See It! - Students can identify the value word in the world around them.
4. Be It! - Students will find opportunities to live the value word in their own lives!
There is a beautiful Friendship coloring sheet at the end of this newsletter for students to enjoy!
School Communication
There are many ways to be connected to what is happening at BES! Options include our campus newsletter, e-mail, School Messenger broadcasts (BISD's mass notification system), and our campus Facebook and Twitter pages!

If you are not recieving any phone messages or e-mails from the school, please contact Kelley Sikes to ensure we have the correct information for you and that you have opted in for School Messenger.
BISD App
There is a great app for our district. Simply download it and follow the schools your children attend. With a click of a button, you can see your student's grades, lunch menus, district news, and much more! Click here for links and information:
DISMISSAL
CAR RIDERS
1. Helping your student know their car rider number. They will have this number the entire time they are at BES - all the way through 4th grade - so the quicker they learn it, the easier it will be!
2. Remaining in the line - parents who walk up to get students will be asked to return to the line. Everyone following the procedure will ensure the safety of our staff and students.
3. Please keep your hang tag on your mirror until your student is loaded. This helps everyone and ensures the line runs as efficiently as possible.
GENERAL
Please communicate with your child's teacher or the front desk if you want your child to go home a different way than usual. Students have difficulty being responsible for communicating this information - they are children and sometimes forget.

Library News
Be a part of the Birthday Book Club!
When your student visits the library for the first time, they will receive a letter that shares about something new at BES, the Birthday Book Club! This is a great way for us to add books to our school library while honoring your child's special day. When it is close to your child’s birthday or on their birthday, the purchased book will be presented to your child. Inside the book will be a special bookplate with his/her name and birthday on it. Your child will be the first person to check out this book and receive a birthday bookmark and their picture with the book on the Birthday Book Club Bulletin Board. The cost is $12.00, and if you don't see the form come home and you want to participate, please contact Mrs. Polk or Mrs. Kuecker in the library so we can get one to you! We have also attached the form at the bottom of this newsletter.
