Requirements & Information

Coaching Points

All Vanguard members must earn a total of 50 points through coaching activities.


Requirements (Non-Admin):


  • Fall TIM-O or TIM-LP submission (10 points)
  • Mid-Year TIM-O or TIM-LP submission (10 points)
  • Spring TIM-O or TIM-LP submission (10 points)
  • End of Year Reflection (5 points)
  • These 35 points will come from the required activities.



Requirements (Admin/District-Level):


  • Fall coaching log submission (10 points)
  • Mid-Year coaching log submission (10 points)
  • Spring coaching log submission (10 points)
  • End of Year Reflection (5 points)
  • These 35 points will come from the required activities.




The final fifteen points can be obtained through your choice in activities. See below for details.

Please complete the form below. It is REQUIRED to complete your coaching requirements. You may include a link to a one-minute reflection video or a 100-150 written reflection.

In your reflection, address the following questions. What was the focus of your coaching this year? What did you learn from the coaching process? How does the TIM impact your coaching practice this year?

These requirements are for everyone that DOES NOT serve as an official evaluator within your school building. If you evaluate others through TKES or a school-based system, you will complete the admin/district-level requirements.

TIM-O or TIM-LP Submission Periods

  • Fall Submission: September 1 - November 17
  • Mid-Year Submission: November 18 - February 28
  • Spring Submission: March 1 - April 30

What gets turned in?

You will complete the designated form and upload the PDF from the TIM-O or TIM-LP.


Accessing the PDF:


  • Log in to TIM platform.
  • Select TIM-O or TIM-LP (whichever you completed).
  • Find the individual you observed or reviewed.
  • Select edit next to his/her name.
  • On the left side menu, select OBSERVATION PREVIEW.
  • Select DOWNLOAD OR PRINT PDF OF RESULTS.

What Gets Turned In?

  • Make a copy of the coaching log linked below and save it to your computer.
  • Submit a PDF of your coaching log on the submission form.

How will I get my points?

When the submission is received, your points will be automatically assigned. If there are questions or concerns after being reviewed by a learning community lead, you will be contacted, and your points will potentially be adjusted.

What happens if I miss the submission deadlines?

These deadlines are REQUIRED for each submission period. If you have missed the submission deadline, please contact your learning community leads for additional information. Aside from prolonged absences due to medical leave, late submissions will most likely not be accepted.

Diffusion Simulation Game Submission - 5 points

Can you get school teachers to adopt an innovation?

Try strategies, and see what happens. How many adopters can you get?


Play the Diffusion Simulation Game as many times as you like, and learn what it takes! You need to think strategically and pay attention to what happens after each move. The first time you play could take an hour or more. Subsequent games take less time. Experienced players often take 30 minutes to complete a game.

Coaching Strategies - 5 points each

Coaching can involve lots of different methods, try these to earn points


Vanguard Coaches will need to answer the following question:

*Must be 4-7 COMPLETE Sentences

  • Describe the session where you completed MODELING, CO-TEACHING, or CO-PLANNING.
  • Reflecting on the session: What was the most successful part.
  • Reflecting on the session: What was the biggest learning moment?
  • Include a reflection from the coachee. What was their biggest take away? What do they plan to try?


Modeling

Invite a colleague into your classroom to watch you teach, or go into his/her classroom to model the use of instructional technology.

Co-Teaching

Teach a lesson WITH a peer. Each of you plays an active role and instructional technology is used.

Work with a colleague to collaboratively plan a lesson with instructional technology.

*Remember, getting your peers to use instructional tech is great, but the ultimate goal is transforming learning and teaching your coachee to personalize learning through the use of the tech tool.

Coaching Cycle | Plan Do Check Act

During the Coaching Play Offs on Jan 5th PD day, members were asked to complete the NEARPOD below on the Coaching Cycle. PDCA cycle Nearpod is worth COACHING Points if you complete it. This activity is optional, but highly recommended.
