HSE Schools Community Bulletin Board
Want to know what new and exciting things are happening in 2018? Check out the CBB!
HSE Schools has created a Community Bulletin Board on its district website. This will serve as a central location to find information about activities and events promoted by organizations that serve our students and their families. This is where the Fishers Library, YMCA, S.P.O.R.T.S. and other groups' registration information will be located.
Spring Cleaning & Donations
- Recess equipment (kickballs, soccer balls, footballs, etc.)
- School supplies (pencils, paper, notebooks, scissors, expo/whiteboard markers, etc.)
- Table/chairs - large enough for student group work space (Please make arrangement with Mrs. Day to determine a use/location and time drop-off)
Thank you!
eLearning
This week students will receive online instruction provided by their teachers for the eLearning day that is to make up for Wednesday, January 24th when school was cancelled due to inclement weather. The goal of our eLearning day is allow for experiential learning to occur within a variety of content areas. (approximately 2 hours)
A choice of lessons will be communicated to students and their families on Monday, April 30 through their Canvas. Students will have one week to complete their assignments. All work is due back to their teachers by Monday, May 7. Students who do not complete their work will be considered absent for the January 24th date. We certainly hope that all students will comply with doing the assignments, as this will be our new procedure for making up any missed days instead of adding them on to the school calendar.
All teachers will hold a minimum of three office hours during the week of April 30th in the afternoon and/or evening. They will inform students of the times they will be available when they share lesson information on 4/30. In addition to the times indicate, students can touch base with their teachers during the school day.
As a reminder, by having an eLearning day, students will not be required to make up the missed day at the end of the school year. The last day of school will be Friday, May 25. If you have further questions regarding the eLearning day, we encourage you to speak with your child’s teachers.

Counselor's Corner
Friendly Falcons overview:
The Friendly Falcons is a group made up of 5th and 6th graders from each homeroom class. They are nominated at the beginning of the year by their teachers to serve as representatives for their teams. The goal of the Friendly Falcons is to promote a positive school climate and anti bullying initiatives for all students at FCI. Some of the projects they have done this year are:
-Supporting the Friendly Falcons benches on the playground
-Helping out with Red Ribbon Week
-Sponsoring two Mix It Up Days
-Random Acts of Kindness Week activities
-4th grade tours
-Serving as positive role models each and every day!
We want to extend a big thank to our Friendly Falcons. A few even participated in our Guiding All Kids Council, and they were a huge asset to our building wide efforts to redesign our school counseling programs.
The Second Step program is being used at both the 5th and 6th grade levels. This program aims to protect students from risky behaviors such as bullying, aggression, and substance abuse, while improving their school success.

FCI Staff Appreciation week-May 7-11
PTO is planning our 2018 Staff Appreciation Week for Fall Creek Intermediate! Our teachers, aides, administrators, janitors, cafeteria workers, nurses and more make our school such a special place and we are hoping to spoil them! Staff Appreciation Week is scheduled for May 7-11.
We are seeking donations similar but not limited to the following:
- A lunch sponsor on one of the days that would be willing to donate a carry-in lunch for the 85 teachers and staff.
- A sweet treat sponsor on one of the days that would be willing to donate a sweet treat for us to provide the 85 teachers and staff.
- Gift card, retail merchandise and or another donation that could be used for a raffle for our staff. Our goal is 85 items so that each staff member receives something! Every business that donates will be listed in a newsletter that is distributed to every students’ family.
- An item, coupon or promotional item you might be willing to donate for a ‘swag bag’ that week. In the past, we’ve had pens, pencils, chapstick, hand-sanitizer, local coupons for free items at restaurants, etc. We need 85 of whatever you choose to include.
If you are a business owner or simply a supportive parent and are interested in making any kind of donation that needs picked up, please contact us and we’d be happy to do that! You may also drop off or mail to: Fall Creek Intermediate, 12011 Olio Rd., Fishers, IN, 46037, ATTENTION: PTO STAFF APPRECIATION.
We ask all items be received or confirmed no later than April 30, 2018 for planning purposes. Thank you! :)

SAVE THE DATE!! - May 9th
How can we create a more inclusive community and school?
Help us create action on May 15th at 7pm at Fall Creek Intermediate School!
As this question has been a source of much discussion and practice, Fall Creek Intermediate will be opening its doors and opening up a solution-focused dialogue on how we, collectively, can improve as a community. The entire Fall Creek Falcon family (current, former, and future) are invited to help us roll up our sleeves to create action. In addition, community stakeholders are welcome to be involved in the discussion. We will be utilizing the “World Café” format to provide a fun and friendly dialogue focused on improving our school, community, and the world at large!
Please contact Brice Willey (bwilley@hse.k12.in.us) if you have questions or would like to be involved.

FCI PTO Volunteers Needed For Next School Year!

This is a great opportunity to stay connected with your child’s school & get to know other Falcon families. Contact Nickie Robinson if you would like more information at nickie@nickiecmakeup.com. It does not take a lot of time to get involved - just a desire to help out when you can. Thanks for considering!
Lost & Found
Remind your child to stop by the lost and found to see if any of the items are his/hers before May 25th . All remaining items will be donated to a local charity the week after school dismisses for summer.
