Leading With Excellence
TCS teachers and staff put innovation on display
TCS Daily Update
Superintendent Mike Daria talks about what the early part of the school year may look like if TCS returns in August.
TCS counselors and social workers have taken the lead in providing learning supports during this time. Last week, TCS counselor Tesney Davis debuted a special webinar for the system on supporting children during a pandemic. A link to the webinar can be found on the TCS website.
Tweeted Conversations
While the system is being to plan for a return to school in the fall, TCS teachers and administrators connected online last week in a Twitter chat to share what's happening right now! Organized by teachers, the Twitter chat included reactions to the implementation of the system's distance learning plan, Learning at Home: The TCS Way! The fast-moving hour was filled with insights, anecdotes and GIFs from dozens of TCS teachers. Join the conversation yourself on Twitter.
Follow the conversation using the hashtag #TCSChat. The next chat will be Friday, May 15 at 5 p.m.
The Write Way to Say Goodbye
This week brings the latest blog post from The Teachers' Voice, this time from Paul W. Bryant High's Natalie Roig-McKnight. For this former military child, the current situation brought a reluctant return from her childhood.
"I would never have thought that I would be writing letters again to say goodbye, especially to students that I teach."
Halfway There!
TCS is halfway through Week 4 of its Learning at Home: The TCS Way and many teachers are hitting the groove! Let's face it: no one tells the TCS story better than you, our employees! Share your successes with distance learning and it may be featured on the TCS website and social media!
The Tuscaloosa City Schools will maintain its approved academic calendar; the last day for instruction will be May 21.
