The Meeks Messenger
2nd Edition, Vol. 13 October 2019
Hey, hey Mustangs!
What a great week! We hope you all enjoyed the donuts on Wednesday! We really DoNUT Know What We Would Do Without You! And what about that Diwali lunch! Yum! Be sure to thank the moms who were a part of the lunch if you see them around school!
As you may have noticed (I know Kandice has!) , we are struggling with ensuring we have subs for teachers off campus. This is an ongoing issue across the district and at Parkside. Please make sure you have lined-up a sub before taking a day off (splitting kids is no fun for the teachers or kids). Subs are dropping jobs in the middle of the night-so be on the lookout. If you are sick, put your day in ASAP! Emailing the office is not a adequate way to get a sub. You MUST put the absence in the system if you are going to be out. If there is an emergency situation that arises, please let Kandice, Maggie, Erin, and Lauren know immediately so we can work to get a plan into place. Also, if you don't have a sub pick up your job, it's your responsibility to notify your team so they can be prepared to split your class. We try our best in the office to let teams know of unfilled positions, but sometimes there are so many unfilled spots that it makes it hard to communicate to teams at the same time we are trying to call subs to fill the positions. We are definitely trying our best to get filled positions, but it's definitely not an easy task. Please make sure you have an extra student roster in your sub plans, in the event that we split a class and you happen to have a sub that day. Thank you!
Literacy Day is coming soon! Do you have your costume yet?! Please make sure you know the schedule and have your students dropped off and picked up from the author visits on time. The time your students are at the author visit in the gym is your teacher conference time for the day. Our students will NOT have specials this day. Parents are welcomed to attend the parade, but this should not be a time for students to stop and pose for pictures. Due to time...and size...we need to keep the students moving. Unfortunately, due to the size of our campus and the agreement with the authors, we cannot invite parents to stay for the author visits. If parents ask, please make sure you communicate that the author visits are for current students and staff only. Thank you for your help with this!
Boo Buddy! If you haven't picked your Boo Buddy yet, please make sure stop by Lindsay Regehr's room today!
Thank you for being so amazing and doing what's best for kids each and every day!
