Health Room
Information was sent home in August about the upcoming influenza vaccination clinic offered by Health Hero PA in our Red Lion schools. This program is a voluntary program at school to help prevent the flu, a common disease that impacts student absenteeism. To help you keep your child well, Health Hero will be providing injectable flu vaccinations on Monday, October 5th at the Red Lion Area School District buildings. To take part in this program, please return the consent form that was sent out at the beginning of the year or contact your child's school nurse for another form to be sent home with your child(ren).
Medication Policy Reminder
Please do not send medication to school with your child. School policy states that any medication must be brought to the health room by an adult. This includes over-the-counter medications too.
Physical Forms
Reminder - All Kindergarten and 6th grade students need to submit a completed physical from, along with updated immunization records, by November 15th 2020.
Cafeteria
The nationwide waiver to allow Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option Operations has been extended through December 2020, which means that all students receive free breakfast and/or lunch through December of 2020. However, if you otherwise would qualify for free lunch, you will still need to apply for those benefits so that you continue to receive free/reduced lunch once the summer program ends in December. The deadline to apply is October 1, 2020.
Red Lion Area School District has made it faster and easier for parents to apply for Free and Reduced meals.
Simply log in to: www.schoolcafe.com
or www.compass.state.pa.us
Your application will be electronically submitted directly to the child nutrition office for processing.
Students who qualify can receive both breakfast and lunch at a free or reduced price.

Transportation
Please remind your student(s) that face coverings must be worn over the nose and mouth while on the school bus. Proper bus stop behavior is standing at the stop, and not playing games or horsing around and not going onto or disturbing someone else's property. Also, please remind your student(s) there are several bus rules and one of them is that there is NO food or drink permitted on the school bus. There is the potential for another student to have an allergic reaction to that item.
Inclement Weather
In the event of school closing or an emergency, below is a list of radio/TV stations that will be notified regarding a change of schedule. In addition, Red Lion residents may visit the district web-page, www.rlasd.net, for current information. Our “Skylert” notification system will also be in effect during the school year. Dental News
The State of Pennsylvania requires that students receive a dental exam upon::::
- Entering school Kindergarten or First grade
- Entering third grade
- Entering seventh grade
You may have the dentist fill out the Family Dental Report or use the Dental Hygiene Screening Form for the school dental hygienist to complete a screening.
For either of these forms, go to RL Home page, parent tab, Nursing & Health Services, Dental...click on the forms. Once completed, return to the building nurses office.
Morning Drop Offs
In the interest of safety, it is very important that only two cars at a time are unloading to drop
off students near the mailbox in the morning. If students are let off prior to that point, then
children are walking unattended through our parking lot while cars are still moving, which is
not allowed. This line is the "fast lane" for those parents that need to drop as soon as the bell
rings and leave the school area. If you are waiting till the buses leave and want to drop at the
front of the school, please park in the parking area and wait for all buses/other vehicles to
leave upon entering the circle area. Please do not wait in the "fast lane" as you will hold up
that line for those needing to exit quickly.
In addition, please remain in the line and do not pass other cars, as this is unsafe as well. The
only place that students should be dropped off while buses are out front is near the mailbox.
Please do not pull into the handicap parking spots to drop off students. In the event of bad
weather, once all buses have unloaded, you may pull around to the front of the school and
drop students at the front door. However, this can only be after all buses have unloaded. It is
important that everyone follows these rules in order to keep all students at NHW safe.
