Mrs. Mendez's Monkeys
Give each of them a BIG hug from me, I miss them so much!!!
*Children their age learn best through PLAY so take this time to do just that, PLAY!!! All of these games are play based but with some academics in there, best of both worlds!
*Utilize those older siblings to do some of these games with them
*Please make sure your child is using the technology resouces somewhat equally and not just all Dreambox or all IRead, try to have them use all of them throughout the week. Dreambox and IRead can be enterchanged with Happy Numbers and Lalilio. RazKids is very important for reading so please use at least 2 times a week.

Sight Word Games
Put a password somewhere around your house that your child frequently enters that your are nearby and they have to tell you the word before they can. You more words to make it a little more challenging as well as do this with letters and numbers as well as short words and words with blends in them. Change it up!

Could also use the cheap blue hair gel that comes in the huge tub!
Set the timer on your phone for 1 minute and have them tell you as many letters, numbers, sounds, words, sight words, addition or subtraction facts that they can.
Make a word for your child. Have them touch each cup and say the sounds as hey do then they will go back and blend the sounds together to read the word. To make this easier you can start by just doing the ending chunck on the word (-at) and then add the beginning sound and have them blend the beginning sound with the chunk. To make it harder add blends into the words.
- Dice, dominoes and a deck or 2 of cards are GREAT things to have on hand and can be used for SO MANY games. There are dice apps that you can download.
- we have been working on counting on, so when adding have them start with a number and then keep counting the dots etc to get the answer instead of them counting all of them each time. For example they roll a 5 and a 4, they would say 5.. 6,7,8,9.
- when playing or working with addition and subtraction make sure you are always having them write the number sentence (__+__=__ and __-__=__).

You can use crayons or makers or any kind of writing material for this as well as anything small to manipulate
You could also write the answer on the bottom part of the egg instead.
Pick your flower, put it between 2 sheets of parchment paper and stack some heavy books on top and leave for a week. Then put packing tape on top to "laminate" them!!
