Week Ending September 15th
I wanted to give a shout out to Karen Omiatek – I am so happy to be working as an instructional coach with her. She has made my transition into the Mansfield Township School District so great, and I really am so appreciative of all she has done for me these first couple of weeks. Looking forward to a great year!

As we continue to improve as a district, below are the district goals for 2017-2018.
Goal#1
Under the direction of the Superintendent, a Math needs assessment was completed by the Mansfield Township School District staff which reflected School-Based performance data having areas of weakness. The areas with the strongest weakness were Number/Operation with Fractions, Operation & Algebraic Thinking, Measurement & Data and Ratios & Proportional Relationships. Therefore, using I-Ready On-Line computer program the Grade 3-6 student proficiency will be 60% or better by January 2018 and 75% or greater by June 2018 on their performance reports. The students will take an on-line assessment in September 2017 and based upon their results a prescriptive program will be created and analyzed monthly.
Goal #2
Under the direction of the Superintendent, a Math needs assessment was completed by the Mansfield Township School District staff which reflected School-Based performance data having areas of weakness. The areas with the strongest weakness were Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Geometry and Number & Operations. Therefore, using Pre/Post Assessment there will be a 5% increase in the proficiency percentage of the K-2 students by January 2018 and a total of 10% increase in the proficiency percentage of K-2 students by June 2018. The Superintendent will monitor the progress throughout the year by reviewing data submitted by the administrators and teachers.
Goal #3
As a result of the End of the Year Writing assessment, there is a need to focus on the improvement of writing. Therefore, using the Schoolwide program, a pre-assessment will be administered to all 3-5 grade students. There will be a 5% increase in the percentage of the 3-5 students that will perform by January 2018 and a total of 10% increase in the percentage of the 3-5 students performing on grade level by June 2018. The Superintendent will monitor the progress of the throughout the year by reviewing data submitted by the teachers such as assessment data. Superintendent will meet with teachers throughout the year to review the data and complete walkthroughs during writing instruction.
Goal #4
District Strategic Plan: Develop a District Strategic Plan that includes input from teachers, administrators, the Board of Education and the community. The one year process will lead to a plan that is informed by each stake holder group and that clearly outlines the goals and objectives for the Mansfield Township School District. The development of the plan will be advertised on the District web site, social media and through email and text messages to parents. Prior to beginning the strategic plan a mission statement and a vision statement will be created by the committee and fiscal priorities for strategies and monthly monitoring will be addressed.
Goal #5
Under the direction of the Superintendent, a HIB needs assessment was completed by the Mansfield Township School District staff which reflected having areas of weakness in understanding the diversity of student population. Using the Olweus program and creating a Cultural Awareness Committee, students will take a pre-test in Fall 2017 and there will be a 15% improvement when the students complete the Spring 2018 post-assessment.
