Basketball Season
- Students are expected to leave the premises immediately following the games. Therefore, please be prompt in picking your child up.
- There is a charge at games for attendees so make sure they are prepared for that purchase as well as concessions they may want to buy.
- Students are expected to attend the games inside the gym(s). Wandering the hallways and hanging out in restrooms is not a good use of their time. Misbehavior can and will result in disciplinary actions at school or through law enforcement.

Semester I of the 2019-2020 School Year
DON'T FORGET...
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up
- Parents, you may not drop your child off in the bus lane after 7:35AM. Additional vehicles impede the bus traffic as well as make the area more dangerous to monitor student movement. Please use the parent drop-off lanes on the east end of the building if you want to drive your child to school.
- In the afternoons there are several cars driving past the buses in their designated bus area. Again, the bus area on the west end of the building is not designed for vehicles other than buses from 3:30-4:15PM.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
- ATTENDANCE MATTERS! If your child has more absences than the state allows, they will lose credit for their classes. It will be required to recover the credit through time spent outside of the regular school day which may include time before or after school and/or on Saturdays. Please be cognizant of the 90% rule: regardless of whether an absence is excused or not, students must complete 90% of the semester classes to receive credit.
- A tardy is considered an attendance infraction. Excessive tardies can result in make-up time outside of the regular school day times.
- We track attendance everyday for state reporting; therefore, it is extremely important to call the school when your child is going to be absence. Not calling could be considered unexcused. A follow-up note from a doctor is also important to document more extensive absences.
- When your child is absent, please make sure that all work is made up in a reasonable time. Students need to always stay on track with their work because the learning takes place in the classroom everyday whether your child is in attendance or not.
See below for our last week's attendance.
Discipline
- It is the expectation for students to attend assigned detentions whether at lunch, for a teacher, or assigned by a Assistant Principal after school. It is considered skipping if he/she does not attend and a more rigorous assignment will be given. Please encourage your child to serve the time if assigned and get back on track as soon as possible.
- There are many cameras placed throughout the building now that our construction is wrapping up. Remind your child that telling the truth about where they are and what they are doing if an incident occurs will serve them better than covering up the facts. We do not watch camera video all throughout the day. This is not necessary; however, whenever needed, we can substantiate movement throughout and around the building as well as misbehavior when needed.
- When a student serves an In-School Suspension, an Out-of-School Suspension, or is assigned to the Right Turn Discipline Center, they may not participate in extra-curricular activities the day(s) of the assignment.
8th Graders' 4-Year Plans
- It is about time for our 8th graders to be thinking about 4-Year Plans for high school. The question they can really start contemplating is, "What do you want to do or be when you graduate from high school?"
- Watch for more information about how the 8th graders will be working with the school counselors and College & Career Readiness teachers to begin their high school educational path.
