November 18-November 27
The mission of Lakeshore Middle School is to promote collaboration between educators, students, and families to foster engaged learners and active and compassionate
members of their community.
Reflections from Mr. Swegles
It is nice to think about, but more difficult to put into play. Being grateful takes intentionality and being intentional requires designated time out of our busy days. We can't possibly fit in one more thing or that one more thing is really just the desire to sit and collect your thoughts and watch too many episodes of your favorite show.
But there is something about gratitude that lifts us up and keeps us going in seasons of stress and busyness.
In addition to the awesome school community in which I am lucky enough to be apart of, here are 5 quick gratitudes to get us started.
1. HEAT! I wasn't ready for the cold this week.
2. An amazingly supportive wife and kids
3. Southwest Michigan, how lucky are we to live in the area that we do
4. Books and 4a. coffee My perfect Saturday morning would start at 7:00, kids who sleep til 8, a book, and piping hot coffee
5. Tomorrow, always grateful to have another opportunity to be better or right the wrongs of today.
What are you grateful for? If it's a staff member here at Lakeshore Middle School, why not send them an email, write a small note, or leave a voicemail. These are the little things that keep us educators going and I promise it will leave you feeling good, too!

The Positivity Project
How important is the character strength of gratitude? Well, so important that we will be devoting 2 full weeks of our P2 time on how we can better practice an attitude of gratitude. Below you will find an introduction video to next week from P2 Co-founder, Mike Erwin.
You can find a character card for gratitude below. Use it as a guide to have a conversation with your children at home and to spot the strengths in everyday events.
