Dr. Charles' Weekly Reminders
Message reminders for the 2020-21 school year!
Sunday, September 20th
We have had some amazing A and B days with our students and were so excited to have them back in the building. They did a great job! We want to thank you for working hard to help your students with the remote learning that has taken place so far. It is very important that you help us, help them to be successful as remote learning is and has been a very important part of their learning so far. Please continue to help us keep our students up to date with their assignments and make sure they are doing their work while at home. Make sure to remember to charge your student's device at home before coming to school and send their charger cord with them each time they are here. Also, please remember their filled water bottle as well.
Progress reports will go out next week. Please look for those. Until the Davidson County Schools' Board of Education has had an opportunity to make decisions about our plan of instruction for Davidson County Schools after the Governor's message, we will still be working on the A/B and remote learning schedule we are currently in at this time. If your child is a student on an A or B day, please make sure they are in school and attending instruction during the time they should be here in the building.
We will begin our enrichment schedule next week and students will be able to have PE. They should wear tennis shoes to school. Our Fall pictures will be coming soon. We will be taking the A day pictures on October 20th and the B day on October 22nd. Starting at noon on October 22nd we will begin to take our full remote students pictures.
If you do not wish to have meals sent home with your student for the days they are home please feel free to call the school and let us know you would like to be taken off of the list. If you have not already done so, please be sure to fill out a free or reduced lunch form online. It is important we have those forms filled out and ready. Make sure to go online and pay your school fees also. Have a wonderful Sunday evening with your families. Always remember, we are in this together. Call the school if you have any questions.
Sunday, September 6th
Good afternoon Brier Creek Families! This is Dr. Charles with some important announcements for the last week of remote learning. Please make sure you are reaching out to your child's teacher through Class Dojo, email, or contacting the school if there are any problems with your remote learning and being able to access what is needed for you to be successful. Also, we are needing you to help us ensure your student or students are able to complete their work and are doing so. This will impact their grade and possibly attendance if we are unable to hear from them or you. We are here for you, please reach out if needed.
Remember, the free meals for all children ages 18 and under have been extended through December 31. There will be no need to have a meal ticket available for the bus. We are excited to be able to offer these meals. Please remember to send back the student verification form that came home with your child at orientation. These are needed as soon as possible if you have not sent those. We still have some kits that need to be picked up for the K-1 students. Please stop by to receive your free kit. It will help them with their learning during the remote and A/B days. We mailed a letter to you that should arrive in the next couple of days that is a reminder of whether your child is A or B day.
Don't forget, there is no school on Monday, September 7th. Remote learning will continue throughout the week of September 8th through the 11th. A/B days will begin on September 14th.
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. We are here if you need us! Remember, we are in this together!
Sunday, August 30th
Good afternoon Brier Creek Families,
This is Dr. Charles with some important information. Starting Monday, August 31st and continuing through September 11th, meals will be delivered along the same yellow bus route as we have run this week; however, only DCS students will be allowed to receive these meals and they will still be at no cost; regardless of free/reduced/or paid status. Students or their parents will need to hand a completed meal ticket with the student name and number written on the ticket to the bus helper to receive the bundled breakfast and lunch daily. No meals will be delivered on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Please call the office if you would like to be added to the bus route.
We will be hosting some Zoom sessions with Mrs. Treadway to help with technology concerns you might be having at this time. Please join us for help if it is needed. The Zoom links will be posted on Class Dojo. At this time, there will be one scheduled for Kindergarten and first grade families on Tuesday, September the 1st at noon. The second through fifth grade families time will be on Thursday, September the 3rd at noon as well. Please invite any of the caregivers who help with your students to join if they wish to learn more about how to navigate the learning management systems.
One last reminder, September the 14th will be the first day for students to return to school on an A day B day schedule, except for those students who have chosen full remote learning. You will receive a bright orange letter to serve as a reminder of whether your child is A day, which will be Monday's and Tuesday's, or B day, which will be Thursdays and Fridays. Please call the school office if you have any questions.
If you need to contact your child's teacher during the school day, we will be sending those calls to their voicemail in order not to disturb them if they are live teaching in a Zoom session, small group session, or recording lessons. Thank you for everything. Things are going great! Remember, we are in this together!
Sunday, August 16th
Good evening Bobcat Families,
Here are some reminders for the start of our 2020-2021 school orientation week. This week each child has a day to attend for his or her orientation. Please make sure you send any forms you received in the mail or at the teacher meet and greet. These forms are important for us to receive back for the students to get their device. Also, kindergarten parents, our students in kindergarten do not have to arrive at school on their orientation day until 8:30. We will be completing the kindergarten assessment on the day they attend orientation as well. Do not forget the kindergarten parent zoom session on Monday at noon. We will record the session and can share that information for parents who are unable to attend. Just be sure to let us know. Make sure your child wears his or her mask to school during their orientation week as well. You should all have received a pack of masks in your bag you received if you were able to come to the teacher meet and greet. Thank you for stopping by to see us. We appreciate your time. If you missed us, or was unable to attend, we will be sending the information home with the student on their orientation day. This will be a very different year, but we are all in this together. I am excited to be your principal. The three most important school supplies we can have for this year will be patience, flexibility, and grace. We are excited to have our children back in the building. See you soon!
