Procedures in civil cases
In the beginning of a case a complaint will be filed with the court. After the complaint is filed the plaintiff, or the one who is charging will serve the defendant, or one who is getting charged with a summons stating that he or she is getting charged with the complaint and needs to report to court and is ordered to see the judge.
The pleadings will be heard in the pretrial conference. This means that the defendant will give their side of the story in front of the judicial officer. The judge does this to clarify and speed up the trial. The preponderance of evidence will determine if the evidence is legit and real.
The combination of mediation and arbitration, or the jury and judge make up the verdict, or the final decision of the trial. Information during the appeal may produce an impact on this verdict.
