A CREATION OF THE FEDERAL RELIEF ACT

The Federal Emergency Relief Administration is the first to take action under the New Deal. Taking on the responsibilities of President Hoover's Emergency Relief Association, the FERA plans on distributing funds of $500 million to states through grants and loans.

You can now find a job and extra support to get back on your feet!

  • Provided help for the needy and unemployed.
  • About 20 million unemployed people have now been hired.
  • Created the Civil Works Administration (CWA) to help get people to work in 1933 and 1934.
  • Unskilled women are now working in several different civil works project through the CWA.
