Scouting Returns to Mars Hill
As Charter Organization Representative to BSA for Cub Scout Pack 78 at Mars Hill, it gives me great pleasure to announce the beginning of our 50th consecutive year as a Cub Pack. Over this period, we have seen many of our youth pass through this important program on their journey to successful positions in life and business. Scouting teaches strong family, religious and civic values that are actively sought out by employers seeking capable, honest and proven achievers.
As we begin this milestone in our mission to continue to bring the BSA program to our youth, we would like to make it known that the first Boy Scout Troop in over 40 years has returned to Mars Hill, once again giving us the ability to take our youth from 6 to 18, from Bobcat to Eagle Scout in one location, continuing this great tradition.
On Fri. night, June 17, 2016, at a crossing over ceremony at Camp Westmoreland, Webelos Chandler Stephenson, Preston Lumpkins, Andrew Heupel, Will Barrier, and Michael Bailey took the oath to build on their Cub Scouting experiences, and continue their journey through the Boy Scout program. The following Sunday, Troop 78 of Mars Hill attended their first summer camp since 1975, receiving a Campsite Honor Award ribbon, and starting four deserving young men on the Eagle Bound program.
We want the Mars Hill family to know our Scouting program is a worthwhile and fun opportunity for the young men of our school. On Thurs. night, Aug. 25, at 6:30 p.m., we will be having our Join Scouting Night at Mars Hill in the Morris Auditorium lobby. All boys ages 6 to 18, Club Scouts and Boy Scouts, are invited to attend. Preparations are being made to accept applications from Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, as well as volunteer parent and adult leaders. We want to be a viable part of the mix that Mars Hill represents, and we would appreciate the support of our families, friends and faculty.

2016-17 Theme: Deeper
Thus says the Lord, "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord." Jeremiah 9:23-24 (ESV)
